I’MMORTAL Releases Alt-Pop Single ‘SWAMP MONSTER’ on Immortality

Alt-pop artist I’MMORTAL, based between New York and London, released her latest single ‘SWAMP MONSTER’ on 2 October 2026 via Immortality. Emerging in August 2023 with the tech-house cut ‘Versace Spaceship’, she quickly built momentum through a series of singles that have surpassed half a million Spotify streams and attracted attention from outlets including Rolling Stone UK, Electronic Groove, DJ Mag Spain, and YourEDM. Her track ‘KILLED U IN A DREAM’ received remix treatments from biskuwi and Droid Bishop, while ‘Uncanny Valley’ was reimagined in a darksynth style by Das Mörtal and featured on NPR Music. Raised in California, I’MMORTAL’s musical foundation began with years of orchestral violin, shaping her approach to arrangement, before high-school musicals introduced her to singing. While classical influences remain, the gravitational pull of EDM’s low end and programmed percussion proved irresistible. Her synesthesia informs a visual approach to music, with videos that juxtapose camp aesthetics, themes of death and rebirth, and contrasts between nature and artificiality, all filtered through her perspective as an AAPI woman. Influences range from Sevdaliza and Britney Spears to Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey and Björk.

‘SWAMP MONSTER’ anchors itself in a dense electronic bassline, with rigid drum patterns colliding against jagged synths and digital textures. I’MMORTAL’s vocal delivery remains intimate and half-whispered, casting a cool, detached sheen that suits the late-October mood. Written and produced by I’MMORTAL, the track was mixed and mastered by Mikaelin Bluespruce, known for his work with Solange, Mariah Carey, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Blood Orange. Fans of SOPHIE, Arca and umru will find familiar territory in the track’s warped pop contours and deliberately rough-edged low end.

I’MMORTAL shared: “I made ‘SWAMP MONSTER’ after watching John Waters’ movie ‘Pink Flamingos’. I love how leaning into filth was the main character Divine’s armor against traditional society’s constructs. ‘SWAMP MONSTER’ is a playful exploration of the unconventional. It’s about diving into the murky, taboo corners of your identity and reclaiming them as a source of strength.”
