Few people know the struggle of disliking your own creations better than artists. However, it can be an amazing feeling when the dislike begins to change and reform itself into love and favouritism. Ilja Alexander knows this better than most with his last release of ‘Someday’ via Green Monk Records.

“I wrote ‘Someday’ on a piano and it sounded like an indie sound. My good friends and co-producers, Curtis Richardson and Adien Lewis, then decided to take me out of my comfort zone, and on the morning of the studio recordings presented to me the electronic urban pop production of the song. I was totally unconnected to the sounds and so discomforted and vexed by the production that I just couldn’t sing on the production for the first two hours. Luckily, I soon came to like the production. In fact, I now think it is one of my most favoured recorded songs so far.”

Somewhat of an international artist, Ilja Alexander is originally from Amsterdam. However, he has recently formed a band in London and received significant attention from Japan and Indonesia.

SUN SILVA releases a new song ‘Ride’

SUN SILVA have released their brand new single ‘Ride’. The new song comes ahead of their largest headline show yet at London’s Colours on December 3rd.

‘Ride’ is a high-octane cut from the London indie collective. The song’s kaleidoscopic psychedelic flourishes are paired with propulsive riffs in the explosive chorus, which results in a sound playing like a combination of Foals, Temples and Tame Impala.

Regarding the new single frontman Oscar Gormley says, “‘Ride’ is probably our most energetic and riff-driven song to date. We’d been writing a lot of mid-tempo dance music and started to really miss this kind of incessant heavier side to our sound. Lyrically the song is about feeling totally out of control. It’s about that space after a period of mental instability where you don’t know where your mind is going to take you next.”

Having only emerged in the tail end of last year, SUN SILVA has been quick to make a name for themselves as one of the most exciting new bands.

‘Ride’ is the latest in a string of singles including ‘Just The Romantic’, ‘Sun Skin Air’ and ‘Blue Light’, which have seen them achieve huge critical acclaim and millions of streams on Spotify, while also carving out an impressive mark on the live scene.

SUN SILVA have gained praise from indie tastemakers including NME, DIY, Wonderland, Clash, Dork Magazine and more, while they also receive support from Radio 1, Radio X and BBC Introducing.

They have sold out shows across London and also played in support of the likes of Jungle, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and KAWALA.

The play their largest headline show yet at Colours, Hoxton on December 3rd, which rounds up a defining year for the band as they gear up for more exciting announcements in 2020. Tickets for Colours, Hoxton are available via Gigantic.

Be the first to catch electro-pop duo TGC’s latest release

We have big soppy hearts that love the idea of a secret Christmas wedding. TGC with their newly released ‘Secret Wedding’ via Illuminated City fit the bill with Mila’s soaring vocals. The track was released today and we were simply too excited to wait to share it.

‘Secret Wedding’ on Spotify Apple Music

TGC have been picked up by several noteworthy publications including Wonderland Magazine, Rolling Stone Magazine, Huffington Post, Clash Magazine and the list goes on. Within Reverbs we discovered their origins: “Marlow Bevan and Milla Sunde are the duo behind the music and formed TGC after meeting Sir Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts”. You can read the full feature here.

“Call me a fool, but I’m hopelessly in love with being in love. I will always be a Juliet.” Milla Sunde comments on her own emotional connection to the track. Being the nosey bloggers we are, we were immediately curious whether there was more to the song than a romantic title. However, dig as we could, there was no more mention of a secret wedding that we could find. Either way, the power ballad is sure to be a hit, carrying all romantics into the festive season.

Marcus King releases a new song ‘Say You Will’

Marcus King has shared the fiery rock ‘n’ roll track, ‘Say You Will’, taken from his Dan Auerbach produced, genre-bending debut solo record, El Dorado – due out Jan 17th, 2020 via Snakefarm Records in the UK.

King comments, “The classic rock ‘n’ roll feel of this song is meant to inspire an emotion to make you want to move. You’ve got Bubba’s kick-drum coming through, heavily pronounced in a bulldozing fashion, and the sleepless fuzz guitar tones are designed to hit a nerve. Combined with the lyrics, this is a song that will take you on a ride through a tapestry of my favourite influences – Mountain, Joe Walsh and Eric Clapton. When listening, you should be rowdy, whether at work or at a cook-out!”

El Dorado is a contemporary exploration of southern R&B, country-soul, classic rock and blues, where subtle acoustics and pedal steel shine bright alongside raucous electric guitars and blistering solos. Marking a new sonic direction and with King’s remarkable voice taking centre-stage, El Dorado is set to further establish him as one of the most soulful voices of his generation.

Meanwhile, lead-off track ‘The Well’ already stands as one of his most successful releases to date, receiving widespread US radio support (#1 on the AAA radio chart in the US week of release), plus critical acclaim from key US tastemakers. The track’s cinematic video is out now.

At just 23 years old, King has established himself as an enthralling world-class live musical talent. He recently embarked on a 70-plus date world tour with The Marcus King Band – one of the hardest working outfits on the scene today, performing over 140 shows in the last calendar year alone. King has also found the time to appear on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and perform with Chris Stapleton on his US arena tour, as well as curating his own hometown festival – The Marcus King Band Family Reunion.

El Dorado was recorded at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio; the songs were written by King and Auerbach along with famed writers, Paul Overstreet, Ronnie Bowman and Pat McLaughlin, and performed by legendary studio musicians who have worked with such iconic artists as Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Bobby Womack. King and Auerbach co-wrote the 12 featured songs for El Dorado in only three days…

On working with King, Auerbach states, “Marcus is known by so many as a phenom guitar player, and rightfully so. He’s regularly the best player in the room, hands down. However, I was equally blown away by the way he can sing – so effortless, so soulful, straight from the heart.”

Playing professionally since he was 11 years old and discovered in his teens after a video of him performing at Norman’s Rare Guitars went viral, King is a fourth-generation musician who followed in his family’s footsteps. His grandfather was a country guitarist, and his father continues to perform live. King recently made his debut at The Grand Ole Opry, playing his grandfather’s guitar
