Native Instruments parent company Soundwide announces artist board

Names like queen of R&B Alicia Keys, prolific mix engineer Ann Mincieli, and rapper  EL-P  have joined forces with Soundwide. This new music ecosystem was launched this week and is a platform for music producers and artists to make music without the hassle and minimal fuss of switching between apps. Musicians like  Alicia Keys form part of this artistic evolution with her role in the artist board, where she will give input and advice to the Soundwide team along with other industry professionals and artists on how to create a more sustainable brand.

This company and board were all conceptualized with the partnering of renowned music tech brands Native Instruments, iZotope, and more recently Plugin Alliance, Sound Stacks and Brainworx. All designed with unique functions, they all form and brand together to be part of this revolution of how artists can band together.

The Soundwide CEO shared a public statement: “Going forward, we’re asking ourselves: ‘What do our community members need to tap into their ultimate creative workflow and how can we help get them there?.’ By first uncovering and understanding our community’s needs, we can map out our goals and move one step closer to the future of sound. Soundwide’s Artist Board provides a unique opportunity to offer up more seats at the table and collaborate with board members to bring new voices into the conversation.”

April 1, 2022 Producer jackLNDN shares ‘Perfect’ progressive house single

Producer jackLNDN shares ‘Perfect’ progressive house single

jackLNDN launches us into the weekend with rhythmic rolling beats and smooth lyrics. The producer is working his way into the more bluesy side of things with his latest release as he laments unrequited love and the bittersweet tones that encompass it. The single, released today via Jack’s House, is the artist’s second release for the year as the aptly named Return caught listener’s attention just last month.

The artist tells us about the inspiration behind his latest song: “This song is about dating the perfect woman only for her to end up choosing someone else. The emotions that come from rejection and the helplessness of realizing that there’s nothing you can do. I tried to make the song musically & harmonically as beautiful as the person that inspired it. There’s a touch of melancholic self-pity in this record, but an underlying feeling of hope as even in rejection, the reminder that there are people out there for you can still be comforting.”

The producer has recently announced that he will be appearing at the Dreamscape festival which is expected to take place at the end of May, just in time for the spring to properly set in and start turning towards summer. Other artists appearing at the festival include Rusko and Megan Hamilton while the second main act remains to be announced.

Music producer Liminka shares comforting downtempo song

Have you ever felt like the week has drained the life out of you and all you want to do is curl up under the bedsheets, and hit the reset button? Liminka’s latest chilled out track ‘Where are you now’ is certainly the type of soundtrack that would be ideal for resetting your mind after taking much strain.

Stream/ download: ‘Where Are You Now’

Previously featured on Chill Music, the blog mentioned: “ Lo-fi rhythm patterns and acoustics collide with a downtempo base on this latest gem. Although the motivation behind this track is somewhat heartwrenching, one can also admire its sophistication and beauty.”

The producer has admitted the inspiration behind his new single came from a darker mental space where he struggled to see a light at the end of the tunnel. You wouldn’t believe it if you didn’t know the background behind the song, but we are so thankful that the producer created and shared this work of art with us to absorb with its lush downtempo tone that swirls around lo-fi embellishments. Listening to this track, one can definitely escape with its comforting embrace.

March 17, 2022 Indie pop singer ID:EARTH (아이디얼스) shares hazy song ‘Home’

Indie pop singer ID:EARTH (아이디얼스) shares hazy song ‘Home’

South Korean singer-songwriter / musician ID:EARTH (아이디얼스) returns with ‘Home’, a hazy, pared-down indie-pop gem, following on from her recent track ‘Betting’ feat Korean rapper Dbo.

Lifted from the forthcoming 4-track EP ‘Panorama’ due later this year, ‘Home‘ forms part of the EP’s connected series, exploring polarising musings on society and human experiences. Sung in both English and Hangul (한글) ID:EARTH’s ethereal vocals flit seamlessly over smooth lo-fi meditative melodies.

She explains: “Home is a song written thinking about my family. I want to say that family is always beside you, whenever wherever. There’s a theme to the artwork. The first single ‘Betting’ shows two Queens that represents one pair of two cards with the same number, and two Queens and 222 from ‘Home’s artwork combines to become a full house. That’s the meaning of this song. The number 222 is 2022 and February 22nd is my birthday. A sculpture in a human mask. Inside that, it’s being filled with souls, emotions, memories and experiences. Sometimes we need to knock on the door and look before time passes and it overflows and the statues are scattered. The owner who wants to protect the house will be waiting for us. Always remember that I hold the key to ‘my home’. I dedicate this song to the people I love and who love me.”

ID:Earth, which means “the identity of the Earth,” hails from Seoul, South Korea and made her debut in 2019 with ‘Egypt’, an experimental, cross genre pop tune which garnered immediate attention. The next single ‘Olympus’ followed swiftly and led to her acclaimed debut album [BE] in 2020. ID:EARTH’s lyrics encapsulates our relationship with the earth and human civilisation. “My music is made to be connected and pieced together like a puzzle. The lyrics are anecdotes and stories about history, myths and philosophies, it also looks into the lives of people and contains their experiences.”

ID:EARTH’s music has been featured in various Korean movies and television series and she continues to push the boundaries with her unique inimitable style in 2022.
