Cinematic singer-songwriter Hannah Schneider unveils ‘We’ll Be The Only Sound In The World’ single

Cinematic singer-songwriter Hannah Schneider has unveiled We’ll Be The Only Sound In The World’ shared from her upcoming album Ocean Letters which will be released in September next year via Midnight Confessions.

Stream/ download: ‘We Will Be the Only Sound in the World’

Born into music, her parents are both classical musicians. Her sound has been compared to the likes of Ólafur Arnalds, Sigur Rós and The Cinematic Orchestra.

We’ll Be The Only Sound In The World is characterised by its serenity, and although the track is spacious and minimalistic, Schnieder’s voice creates a  tapestry of intense sonic detail.

Speaking of the song, Hannah Schneider tells us: “This is the first single from my forthcoming album “Ocean Letters”- an album that is thematically inspired by Danish poet Siri Ranva Hjelm Jacobsen and her little book of the same name, that talks about the evolution of the world as it is seen by the Ocean. This song is written from the perspective of a conch shell, telling its stories of the grains of sand and the waves that indented it, playing with the fact that seashells actually are a kind of amplifier of ambient noise. The song was written during a lockdown in Denmark this January, and it reflects the feeling of pandemic stillness – the lack of aeroplanes in the sky, and traffic sounds that usually create eternal background noise.”

Alternative duo WARBLY JETS (Samuel Shea and Julien O’neill) share a documentary entitled Making of MONSTERHOUSE, which documents the process behind their newest studio album, MONSTERHOUSE (out November 12, 2021 via Rebel Union Recordings). EARMILK hosted the premiere.

Speaking on the documentary, Samuel Shea said,

We love being in the studio writing and recording. We enjoy the process that goes into making a record as much as the final product itself. We wanted to share that side of what we do with our fans and listeners. I’ve always enjoyed getting any insight into the process of how a record I love was made. The idea was to be able to offer our fans that same exciting feeling of giving a behind the scenes look into how we do what we do. I hope that it’s a special experience for our supporters. It’s always a strange feeling for me looking back at any older version of us. We learned a lot during the process of making MONSTERHOUSE. It’s nostalgic to watch it all back.”

Julien O’neill continued,

“We knew this album was going to be a big undertaking and a turning point in direction stylistically. It felt really important to not leave everyone in the dark and bring people along for the experience. It’s great to see how it evolved from the early days to the end. A LOT morphed in the process of writing and recording. From album title and concept to all the songs being finalized in the moment. Knowing where this album landed in hindsight, it feels really special to watch many of those original moments happening in real time. We’re pulling back the curtain for the first time. We’ve always been very vague about our process and haven’t really allowed any cameras to follow us behind the scenes before this documentary. We wanted to give people an insight to how we do what we do, what it takes to do what we do and how seriously, or not, we approach making music. It’s a companion piece to an album that took every inch and resource we had to make possible.”

MONSTERHOUSE is the Los Angeles-based duo’s second full-length studio album, following their critically-acclaimed, self-titled debut released in 2017. The new LP is packed with high-energy, genre-fluid tracks that exhibit WARBLY JETS’ studio chops and production prowess. With sonic references ranging from Rick Rubin and Beck, to Beastie Boys and early 2000s hip-hop, the album explores the place where humanity and technology meet—grappling with all the questions and doubts that come with living in the information age.

Waveshaper shares striking video for ‘The Phantom Machine (Film Edit)’

Waveshaper has shared the video for ‘The Phantom Machine (Film Edit)’ The track is an extended version for the upcoming short film The Phantom Machine directed by Jendo Shabo, of Helios Films, while the original track is lifted from his album Mainframe – released earlier this year and comprised of 8 spellbinding synthwave offerings.

‘The Phantom Machine (Film Edit)’ is well suited to a science fiction horror story soundtrack, and renders its own story through its undulating instrumentals and accelerating tempo.

The video is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where a brave traveller meets the malicious Phantom Machine in a video-game-like battle, complete with striking futuristic visuals.

A comment on the Youtube video by Dave M. sums it up perfectly:  “This is what all of us secretly imagine when listening to retrowave.”

Listen to Ubisoft’s Far Cry® 6 COMPLETE MUSIC (Original Game Soundtrack) by Pedro Bromfman

The complete soundtrack for Ubisoft’s Far Cry® 6 has hit the airwaves and is sure to not only delight gamers but music fans too. Scored by award-winning composer and producer Pedro Bromfman, the soundtrack is an emotional journey that takes place alongside revolution and guerilla warfare.

The game centres around the fictional island of Yara, which must be liberated from villain Antón Castillo (Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito) and his son Diego. Players take up the persona of Dani Rojas, a local military dropout, who tries to escape the island but ends up joining the revolutionary group Libertad.

With a collective play count of nearly 20 million streams, Pedro Bromfman has a trail of awards in his wake and also recently scored the feature film The Blackout.

Speaking of the album Bromfman explains: “Composing the music for Far Cry® 6 has been a tremendously rewarding experience! We set out to create a very modern score, drenched in lush soundscapes, driving percussion, processed organic instruments and a ton of synthesizers.  We knew we needed to capture the soul of Yara, and its characters, by rooting the score on traditional Latin American and Caribbean music, while being completely free to experiment with contemporary sounds, elements and techniques, in hopes of creating something very fresh and unique.
