70’s inspired rock band KEYS share song ‘The Strain’

The Strain’ is the third single taken from KEYS new album HOME SCHOOLING: A Collection of 4-track rarities, out on 21/08/20.

Matthew Evans Vocals/Guitar/Songwriting talks us through this personal of songs:

The Strain is about friendship. I knew it before, but lockdown has really brought home the importance of my friends to me. There’s a hurt at the heart of The Strain. I was trying to capture what I call the Swansea Soul. I was channelling Pete Hamm. I’m so proud that Badfinger come from Swansea. It blows my mind. I find it quite easy to tap into that sense of longing and what the Welsh call Hiraeth. It’s probably the most personal song I’ve ever written.”

Embrace summer with PRXZM and their new song

Sparkling synths and cascading electro-pop elements shine in PRXZM’s latest release ‘Slow Motion’. Comprised of Nick Ortega and Emma Maidenberg, who met during college in Indiana, the duo previously reached the Top Five songs on the US Viral 50 Spotify Chart with their original song, ‘Haze’. We think ‘Slow Motion’ is going to make equally big waves. Curios to know what we’re talking about? Check it out below.

Speaking of ‘Slow Motion‘, PRXZM tell us: “There is no question that this summer is one for the outdoors. “Slow Motion” is an ode to the Northern California beaches where it was written. The production is heavily influenced by the warm tones of cassette tapes and the iconic, synthesized drums from the 80s.”

Julia Holter is pleased to share her mesmerizing cover of Fleetwood Mac’sGold Dust Woman‘, available widely for the first time since its creation in 2012. Recorded after the release of Ekstasis, Holter’s take on Stevie Nicks’ classic adds a celestial layer of lucidity.

Holter says of the cover: “I always wanted to make this cover available officially. I recorded it at home in 2012 for a Mojo special on Fleetwood Mac. The propulsive dark vibe of this song was appealing and I think the raw energy of my recording captures an exhilarated moment in time for me, in which I was about to start touring, playing my own music for the first time.”

Holter recently scored the soundtrack for the film Never Rarely Sometimes Always, available to watch online now and her fifth studio album Aviary was released in October 2018.

August 27, 2020 Duo Punctual share house remix of 2000’s Mario throwback song

Duo Punctual share house remix of 2000’s Mario throwback song

UK DJ and producer duo Punctual have unveiled their new single ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’, a rework of the Mario classic of the same name.

Punctual transform ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’ from a mid-2000s R&B favourite to a melodic club jam, channelling raw emotion and infectious grooves into something made for the dancefloor.

Composed of Will Lansley and John Morgan, Punctual burst onto the scene in 2016 with debut single ‘Eva’, released through Becky Tong’s Juicebox label, which surpassed 5 million streams and garnered support from Zane Lowe, Pete Tong, Phil Taggart and more. They have since amassed millions of streams across their diverse back catalogue, kicking off the new decade with the euphoric ‘Imagine’, a single that drew support from BBC Radio 1 favourites Danny Howard and Scott Mills.

Crafted with the dancefloor in mind, ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’ is a club groover that loses none of the emotion of the original.
