Indie-pop trio Lex Audrey shares video for pulsating track, ‘Winter II’

Already one of the most promising artists in the scene, Austrian trio Lex Audrey has released the music video for their acclaimed single, ‘Winter II’. The song was released on the 1st of February while the video came out 4 days later on the 5th.

The Vienna-based trio consists of Niklas Pichler (vocals), Patrick Pillichshammer (drums and samples), and Lukas Staudinger (synth and bass). Each of them started playing instruments from a very young age as it allowed them to express themselves freely through the use of music. With Niklas on main songwriting duty, the group comes together to create a track around his creations as each idea comes to fruition. Having been part of the Austrian music scene for almost two years now, their debut album sees Lex Audrey ready to take on the global market as they rely more on electronic soundscapes instead of traditional instrumentation.

The Rupert Höller directed music video is quite simple in its nature, but manages to keep the viewers attention throughout the whole track. Cleverly using a wide array of lighting effects, the video sees the trio performing their track in a darkened room while masterfully choreographed lighting rigs move around them, transforming the ‘dull’ room into an exciting visual treat for the eyes.

Pre-order their debut album, No Intention of Changing the World, here.

Lex Audrey explains the theme of anti-superficiality in “Winter II”; “All they do is yell, and they‘re searching for attention without words, attention for hollow minds”.

Alternative-pop trio PLYA release live video for ‘Adrenaline’

Cinematic alternative-pop trio PLYA have released the live video for their storming single ‘Adrenaline’. Submerging listeners with their captivating style, the video invites you to witness PLYA exposed and real, in an intimate and honest performance.

‘Adrenaline’ was first released via underground Italian label Manifesto at the end of last year and instantly started making traction online, gaining over 700K steams on Spotify in a few weeks. And now with the video, PLYA return to the UK with a brand new headline show at London’s Thousand Island.

Emerging just over a year ago with the track ‘Thinking Of You’ the three piece immediately sparked attention with their artistic songcraft. Perfectly syncing electronica, rock undertones with atmospheric pop, PLYA, led by Julia Sykes, deliver a cosmic sound full of sonic tension and diversity, derived from Julia’s eclectic upbringing, drawing in aspects of London, Europe and Los Angeles.

Since debuting, PLYA were named BBC London’s ‘BBC Introducing featured artist’ in April 2018 and had their Hype Machine Top 10 single ‘Feast My Eye’ hand-selected by Sir Elton John for his Apple Music Beats 1 Radio show. January 25, 2019 Eulene Holds Space With New Track ‘Momma’

Eulene Holds Space With New Track ‘Momma’

Up-and-coming pop sensation Eulene, recently released her debut track ‘Momma’ last year, accompanied by a video. A relative newcomer to the scene, Eulene has wasted no time garnering attention with her flamboyant stylings and stunning vocal work.

Her creative upbringing is evident in her music – Eulene comes from a long line of artists. Her grandmother’s photographic studio was situated at the famous Carnegie Hall, and her parents brought her up on a wholesome diet of music festivals and songs by Hank Williams Sr and Bill Monroe.

Both the track and the video for ‘Momma’ have been met with positivity, CLASH Magazine describing it as  “electrifying electro pop with an addictive edge.”

“When I was writing this song, I jammed on my bass for a long bit, days really, searching for the truth and the cadence of being female. I’m one of five – the only girl –  so being female has been a prevailing theme of my life always. And a place of reflection for as long as I can remember..” she says.

The track has been described as “at times raw, intense and unapologetic” and is beautifully contrasted by the the video, which shows Eulene dancing  with balance, equilibrium, control and grace.

“The role of the Momma – so dominant, so powerful yet so delicate. The raw, the wild, the fully intuitive nature is what took hold and what drove both the writing and the production.  The ferocity of the momma-bear lives in the rap/sing style of the verse while the soft and gentle momma floats and soars in the chorus’. And finally, there is the primal call of the woman, heard in the bridge. All in a 3 min. snapshot. or, I should say…journey!”

As a debut, the track proves that Eulene really does exist in her own space, and ‘Momma’ is a fine example of her art – hopefully a harbinger of great things to come from the electro pop songstress.

January 25, 2019 Get real close, with MIO’s latest sensual music video for new track ‘Nude’

Get real close, with MIO’s latest sensual music video for new track ‘Nude’

Following on from an electrifying string of releases, enigmatic Swedish newcomer MIO shares debut EP ‘So what do we do now?’ released via Island Records UK

MIO’s fluid and accessible lyrics, matched by a genre-hopping style, combined with the fact that MIO could be any sort of artist (and arguably already is), all adds up to a feeling of total pop freedom. Debut EP ‘So What Do We Do Now?’ comes with a complementary visual project whose own narrative runs in parallel to the stories MIO explores through the songs. The series of short films follows the turbulent, passionate and ultimately doomed story of teens Muna and Luka, while MIO’s own story arc offers no shortage of drama.

Previously released singles ‘High On Me’, ‘Lost’ and ‘Wasting Lies’ form 3 of the 4 chapters of the mini film, with ‘Nude’ its final act. The film is to be released in its entirety alongside the audio EP.
