VIVA ACID SHINES A LIGHT ON CHICAGO’S ACID HOUSE SCENE WITH 4TH ANNUAL TALKS AND WORKSHOPS

This October, Viva Acid is back with their highly anticipated fourth edition of their annual talks and workshop series. As trailblazers in Chicago’s cultural scene, Viva Acid will immerse you in the city’s captivating acid house movement from October 3rd – 6th at the Podlasie Club.

The 2024 theme; “Transcending Scarcity to Build Resilient, Flourishing Ecosystems through Collective Creativity,” promises to be both inspiring and transformative. Prepare for a dynamic array of events, workshops, and discussions designed to spark innovation and foster community. Topics will range from Maximising Reach to Marketing Authenticity while workshops will delve into music production techniques, including Approaching Remixing and Creating What You Hear. Renowned industry figures like Gene Farris, DJ Hyperactive, Radio Slave, and Glenn Underground will be leading these sessions, offering their insights and expertise.

The event kicks off on Thursday, October 3rd with the premiere of Children Of Acid, a compelling documentary exploring the past and future of Chicago’s acid house scene. Produced in collaboration with Baffe, this film promises an in-depth look at the genre’s evolution.

With Secret Garden Party’s announcement to support Chai Wallahs’ Drop a Headliner campaign, in order to nurture grass roots artists for their 2024 edition, their curated line-up features over 350 artists including: Unkle, Crystal Fighters, Chinchilla, Franky Wah, Carly Wilford, Adelphi Music Factory, Jakkob, Omega Nebula, Technobrass, TC & The Groove together with independent collectives The Living Room & Noiganica hosting dedicated venues. Save Our Scene, Parable Music, Dubtendo and Truth Tribe plus many more collectives are providing exciting stage takeovers to deliver an unparalleled event in July 2024.

Leaning into their vibrant history that proudly spans across two decades, Secret Garden Party has consistently pushed boundaries forward with their programming, actively championing developing acts. In past years, Secret Garden Party has hosted some of the most exciting talent from across the industry, including Lily Allen, Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa whilst also playing a monumental role in breaking the careers of now global superstars Florence & The Machine, The XX and Regina Spektor who’s first ever festival appearance was at SGP.

Founder Fred Fellowes emphasises the importance of inclusivity, stating “We believe in being a breeding ground for talent to grow. Why allocate a massive budget to one or two headliners when it could fuel another 50 outstanding acts? This year’s focus is on providing grassroots artists the ability to shine, whilst actively redefining festival experiences for the future.”
