(Armin van Buuren / Armin van Buuren Facebook)

On June 27, 2025, Armin van Buuren unleashed his ninth studio album, Breathe, through Armada Music. This release cements his status as a titan in the trance and electronic dance music scenes. A Dutch DJ and producer, van Buuren has snagged the top spot in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll multiple times and built a global following with his A State of Trance radio show and festival brand. Spanning two parts – Breathe In and Breathe Out – this 51-track project doubles as a personal milestone, reflecting his recent dive into mental health and self-growth.

Collaborations with heavyweights like Bon JoviPendulum, and Moby shake things up, layering rock and drum and bass vibes into van Buuren’s sound. It’s a broad, cohesive collection that mirrors his knack for pushing boundaries.

June 5, 2025 Transcultural Artist Munsha Confronts Societal Pressures in THE FALL OF THE ASTRONAUTS

Transcultural Artist Munsha Confronts Societal Pressures in THE FALL OF THE ASTRONAUTS

Munsha’s 10th studio album, THE FALL OF THE ASTRONAUTS, marks a significant step in her career, combining her skills as a composer and performer with a full-scale music theatre production. Behind the name Munsha is Daniela Lunelli, an artist with roots in both classical music and the punk DIY scene. Now working out of Berlin, she has built a reputation for crossing cultural and musical boundaries, performing all vocals and instrumentation herself in English and German for this release.

Watch here:

The album is directly linked to Alices Geschwister, a theatre piece that reworks Alice in Wonderland into a narrative set in a mental institution, tackling themes of compulsory psychiatric treatment. Spanning 14 tracks, THE FALL OF THE ASTRONAUTS was developed alongside the script, ensuring the music aligns with the story’s exploration of identity and societal pressures. This dual creation process highlights Munsha’s ability to integrate sound with narrative, offering a cohesive experience across both mediums.

In terms of sound, the album draws from a wide range of styles, incorporating elements like cello melodies, orchestral arrangements, and electronic textures. Munsha cites influences from artists such as Goldfrapp, Ryūichi Sakamoto, Klaus Nomi, and filmmaker David Lynch, which show up in the album’s cinematic quality and varied production. The result is a project that resists easy categorization, reflecting her aim to capture human diversity through music. For Munsha, THE FALL OF THE ASTRONAUTS is both a standalone work and a key component of a broader artistic statement, demonstrating her range and commitment to pushing creative limits.
