munro releases double single with Quality Goods Records

munro shows two sides in his new double single ‘Butterflies / Pineal’, out on Quality Goods Records. The track was supported by tastemaker webzine NOTION Magazine, adding to his growing list, which includes CLASH Magazine, ABC triple j unearthed radio show.

Stream / Download: munro – ‘Butterflies / Pineal’

‘Butterflies’ has a destructive feel, meaning the record has been carefully decayed. Auckland-based producer munro cut out frequencies and distorted others to blend them into a contrasting mix. This remains true for the duration of the track, where glitched noise effect ‘bursts’ splatter its edges and a heavily-saturated sub-bass takes over from a hot kick drum, layering on top of the already-crunchy arrangement.

On the other side, ‘Pineal’ is more introverted. That is, it is softer and takes a while longer to break out of its shell, but once it does, oh boy. The record surprises us all with its stuttering sample breaks and unstoppable beat.

March 3, 2023 Florian Picasso’s new song ‘What’s The Next Move’ is mischievous

House producer Florian Picasso has plotted to release a new single and delivered on his promise with his latest record ‘What’s The Next Move’, which has been signed with the new label imprint La Californie Musique, presumably named after the late Pablo Picasso’s home in France, a residence by the name of Villa La Californie. But how does this relate to Florian, you might ask? Well, as his surname suggests, he is the artist’s great-grandson, so it is only fitting that he continues the legacy of the Picasso name.

Stream / Download: Florian Picasso – ‘What’s The Next Move’

His new record misbehaves. A disembodied voice urges us not ‘get caught’. Like a conversation between two troublemakers, the vocals call to a well-meaning but rule-breaking part that exists in all of us. And to bolster this naughty quality, the producer draws out tense builds with alarming energy before dive-bombing into a pool of crisp hats that float on a shimmering surface of the higher frequency ranges.

February 21, 2023 Musician PLEEG’s new song ‘Still Friends’ is detailed

French electronic music producer PLEEG has shared his latest offering, a single titled ‘Still Friends’, with the help of his label Quality Goods Records. From lush breakdowns to modulated drops, ‘Still Friends’ epitomises PLEEG’s style.

Stream / Download: PLEEG – ‘Still Friends’

Like a thousand-piece puzzle, the single is comprised of many loose elements, brought into harmony by the producer’s heightened sense of song arrangement. When one part falls away, another jumps in to fill its place, excluding, of course, the timed moments of silence that make serve the song as much, if not more, than the notes themselves.

PLEEG is increasingly being mentioned in the press, having recently gained the support of the recognised publication Run The Trap, which had nothing but good things to say about his latest song. “The stunning record is nothing short of a vibrant and heartfelt anthem that comes across as unpredictable yet warm and inviting at the same time,” they said, complimenting the artist.

Norwegian electronic producer Sindresu has shared his new pop song ‘Daydream’. The record reminds us of the emotional tunes of the mega-hit producer Kygo. It’s as if the record begins in the middle, and we are thrown into the deep end, left to swim in the producer’s optimistic production.  Built around a strong lead vocal, all of the instruments work together to serve a sweet and chewy centre, making for a song that is both concise and clean.

Turning a negative into a positive, Sindresu tells us about the obstacles that inspired the upbeat track, saying that “daydream is about escaping reality during dark times and is inspired by a difficult period in my life. I experienced serious burnout, which left me with declined health for a time. This song tells the story of being stuck in an unfulfilling life and dreaming of better days”.

Based in the capital of Sweden, the Stockholm resident has been involved in the world of music since he was 5 years old. As a child, he learned to play the violin and continued to explore sound by learning to jam 6 strings. With experience playing the guitar, violin, and even piano, he now tinkers with bits of Tropical House and bobs of Pop.
