In her poignant new song ‘Thirty and Thriving’, singer-songwriter Sam Hart reflects on the complexities of coming of age as a woman, in our modern society. Accompanied by the moving visuals of actual VHS footage from her early childhood, the song’s cathartic lyrics allow Hart to disclose her challenging journey towards self-acceptance in spite of unrealistic pressures.

The gentle and melancholic piano accompaniment unveils the Canadian artist’s true essence as a powerful vocalist, effortlessly switching between delicate nuances and powerful highs and allowing her versatile voice to shine through.

When asked about her inspiration for the song, Sam Hart reveals “I wrote ‘Thirty and Thriving’ at a time when I was falling behind. It felt like I was running toward a door that never seemed to get closer. Writing this song helped me to truly understand that everyone’s path looks different and that’s okay”.

Liz Cass releases new disco-influenced single ‘Too Hot’

Liz Cass just released her brand new single ‘Too Hot’, a scorching pop track which glistens with an 80s disco shimmer as she casts away fickle past relationships among its infectious funky groove. ‘Too Hot’, which was produced by William Dinesen and mixed and mastered by DARGZ (Moses Boyd, Flyte, Poppy Ajudha), follows the release of her critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Words.

Earlier this year, Liz also shared the ‘Teardrops’ EP, a choice selection of songs from Womack and Womack, Joy Division, Mazzy Star and Rialto, which she covered with her unique touch as her broad vocals paired with soaring synths and downtempo beats. “Tender and tranquilising… plays on her vintage tones and ambience,” said Notion of the release, while Wonderland wrote, “Liz continues to captivate listeners and establish herself as a rising star.

Regarding her latest song, Liz says, “‘Too Hot’ is the first single from my next project. It’s inspired by those fiery and quick to burn out romances that lack any meaningful foundation. A lot of fun and excitement but never lasting. I used to seek that out, but now just the idea of it is exhausting to me!”

Esteemed LA-based electronic producer Tristan De Liège has teamed up with emerging jazz band Jambal for their new single, ‘Uncertainties’, released on the 4th of August via Tristan De Liège X Jambal Music. The single, reminiscent of artists like Arms and Sleepers, St Germain, Azymuth, and Ezra Collective, is the first release from their forthcoming album Enterprises of Great Pith and Moment.

‘Uncertainties’ immediately announces itself as being contemporary, a Jazz fusion of old and new. With intricate rhythm sections and modern synths in the background, it builds and builds. The trumpet is eventually made the star of the show, teasing and building in a rather improvised and playful way. Its crescendo is emotive and longing, but calm too. Like things aren’t all right, but they may be eventually. It sounds like cigarettes on a dark New York Street. A fine display of jazz versatility and individual musical performance.

Tristan De Liège and Jambal shared: “Uncertainties was one of the last tunes of the album we finished. We initially struggled to find a direction that everyone agreed on, but eventually, through collective improvisation, the song became divided into two sections: the minimalistic instrumentation for the first half and the anthemic character in the second. The song represents the feeling of uncertainty of life when you’re making big decisions or starting new projects, and you feel a building sense of excitement but you’re not sure what the outcome will be.”

Klay Cartier ventures past genre with ‘Good For Nothin’’

Klay Cartier is an emerging artist who dabbles in the deep end, where the borders between genres have evaporated into mist. His latest offering, a percussion-heavy (or should I say heavy percussion) single titled ‘Good For Nothin’’, showcases his ability to veer off into new lanes without changing course.

To this end, he shared: “I recorded and worked on this song over a year ago. I knew I wanted to step out of my wheelhouse like I usually do, and it pushed me to make this incredible song. I took aspects from R&B, Pop, Rock, and Latin genres and mashed them together to create this electrifying experience for the listener.”

Signed with Kult Klassic Studios, his latest offering is a bare-bones production. This is not to say that it is by any means sparse, but rather that the focus on the raw physicality of the drum rhythms mixed with Cartier’s unblemished voice makes for an essential and directed work of art.
