Fiery rock band Mellor unveils new album Problematic Passions

UK rock band Mellor has released their latest album Problematic Passions via Triple B Records. The formidable band’s formerly released EP, Dive into the Strange, enjoyed the #2 spot on the iTunes rock album chart and #3 on the Amazon Music rock album chart. Locally, Mellor graced the airwaves of the prestigious BBC Introducing Berkshire, BBC Radio 1, and BBC 6.

The new album’s song lineup tells a story. The last track concludes satisfactorily, presenting answers to questions pondered regarding the conflicting and agonising emotions explored in every track that proceeds the first song. ‘Could If I Would’, the first track in the album, deals with anticipated hope, courage, and a certain conflicting inability to act in a certain way. The conflict is appeased and essentially addressed in the last track, ‘Call It Off’, which deals with letting go of a situation that does not benefit the self, especially if there is an internal personal conflict.

Mellor relays the conceptual composition of Problematic Passions: “Jake Day has done an impeccable job of mixing the songs and working with us to find the personality of the album. Although not a true concept album, it has a recurring theme of the bad things people do or get themselves into. A problematic passion could be anything from drugs and stealing to manipulation and money troubles”.

Producer WMD amazes with new song ‘Nowhere’

Electronic musician WMD released his latest track ‘Nowhere’ via Natural Blonde. Michael Erickson, moniker WMD has found a niche in producing music that speaks to and addresses melancholia and the negative emotions in relationships. Michael hails from Cashmere, Washington and is currently based in Seattle, Washington, USA.

The melody in ‘Nowhere’ is supported by gentle guitar strings from the beginning of the song to the end. The guitar strings reverberations cascade slowly, giving the impression that they are not going anywhere, and its leisured echos invite listeners on a journey to a destination solely determined by the listeners themselves. The use of acoustic guitars and electric guitars in this track has produced a sound that is engaging. The track evokes peace, relaxation, and the need to just exist without the pressures to constantly remain busy or to attain recognition in the world.

WND tell us how he began making ‘Nowhere’: “This song was one of the few on this record written during a two-week stay in northern Montana last winter. I had a cabin on a little private lake, which I set up a small studio in. I remember starting the song on acoustic guitar one evening while watching the sun set over the mountains”.

Skilled musician Cimo Fränkel offers new single ‘Closed The Door’

Under Cimo Fränkel / AWAL, talented musician Cimo Fränkel released his latest single ‘Closed The Door’. Hailing from Amsterdam, Netherlands, the LA-based singer-songwriter recognises the work of Huey Lewis and Michael Jackson as the inspiration for his music. At the age of fifteen Cimo started out collaborating with other young Dutch musicians as well as delving into music production.

The vocals in ‘Closed The Door’ are awe-inspiring, boast a celestial quality and display the potency of Cimo’s vocal abilities through its euphoric high notes. Listening to this single is like listening to an angel singing because the control of the vocal cords is soul-stirring and speaks to a deep place in listeners’ hearts. The harmonisation in the song reaches an ecstasy with its effervescent high notes as it matches the exigence and vibration of the electric guitar that dominates the track towards the end.

Cimo Fränkel elaborates on the subject matter of the single: “Closed The Door’ is about a relationship coming to an end. It’s about being courageous enough to speak up and accepting the consequences of making the decision that it’s over”.

PLEEG and Eyezic’s new song Is elaborate and Innovative

Good collaborations require a connection between artists. There are often hitches in workflow or creative direction throughout the process, although, from what we can hear, producers PLEEG and Eyezic had no problems there, pulling off the feat without much effort. Titled ‘Dead Weight’, their latest single sees two producers from different worlds come together to mix French and American influences in a maelstrom of sound.

Beyond dynamic, the Quality Goods Records-signed single morphs constantly. One moment crashes fracture into a million fragments, the next we’re thrown into a tango with Latin-type beats. All of this is neatly packaged in the cleanest mix. Upfront and personal, the track begins with a sustained background of dark bass that contrasts with stunning, emotive vocals, which speak to the subject of romantic turmoil or disinterest even. Eyezic refers to “moody dark lyrics”, and his description is perfect.
