munro releases double single with Quality Goods Records

munro shows two sides in his new double single ‘Butterflies / Pineal’, out on Quality Goods Records. The track was supported by tastemaker webzine NOTION Magazine, adding to his growing list, which includes CLASH Magazine, ABC triple j unearthed radio show.

‘Butterflies’ has a destructive feel, meaning the record has been carefully decayed. Auckland-based producer munro cut out frequencies and distorted others to blend them into a contrasting mix. This remains true for the duration of the track, where glitched noise effect ‘bursts’ splatter its edges and a heavily-saturated sub-bass takes over from a hot kick drum, layering on top of the already-crunchy arrangement.

On the other side, ‘Pineal’ is more introverted. That is, it is softer and takes a while longer to break out of its shell, but once it does, oh boy. The record surprises us all with its stuttering sample breaks and unstoppable beat.

Bulgarian songstress Y A N A teams up with producer Gena for ‘Fast Lane’

Noir-esque songstress Y A N A croons, seducing listeners in black and white, her sultry voice a soft, yet confident palette of attitude and breathiness. Having teamed up with Gena, a recognised producer in Blugaria’s music scene and a member of the Hip Hop group So Called Crew, not to mention a featured artist on Stereofox’s Bulgarian Beat Wave, vol. 1 compilation, the songstress has released her latest offering. ‘Fast Lane’ is the first single from her forthcoming 9-track album titled Under My Skin, which will land in stores on the 25th of May via Stereofox.

“Under My Skin is a journal,” she says, opening up to listeners and readers alike. “Very intimate, real, vulnerable. It takes you through my fears, desires, parts of myself I’ve never been honest or brave enough to share.” Her latest single is her first diary entry, so to speak. In it, she writes about love and euphoria in swirling curls, inscribing the bliss of the honeymoon phase in an open book of her binding.

Indie-Folk musician Land Of Trees’ delivers new album

It is official. Singer-songwriter Land Of Trees has released his fourth LP titled Things I Don’t Know.. Yet. On the project, we discover the sombre yet hopeful record ‘Giving You My Notice’, a hearty mix of harmonies to soothe the soul. “‘Things I Don’t Know.. Yet’ is a step back to basics.” he shared, describing how he aimed to create music for music’s sake. And he has delivered, keeping things sonically cohesive, nothing overly complicated.

Land Of Trees’ music touches on the folky side of Indie music. Straying from the usual formula, he imbues his sound with the voice of a man raised in nature. There is a certain earthiness to his sound. He creates music grounded in his roots, elaborating on the stories from his life to give listeners a vacation from the office desk, where they can drift with the mist in the mountains. Marti West captures coming-of-age in ‘Somebody New’

UK-based singer-songwriter Marti West is back with another single, which he has named ‘Somebody New’. The track is the second one he has released in 2023, and, for Marti, the year is still young. He has informed us that he will be releasing a new album on the 28th of April, where listeners will find the already shared song ‘Nobody Knows Me (Like You)’ as well as his latest offering.

The track brings to mind a coming-of-age feeling. There is an angsty mood to the whole deal. Like a spotlight, lively drums light up the performance. A steady texture of guitar strum moves listeners towards the song’s brassy climax. That is, a brass section jives to the rhythm of Marti’s heart, giving us something to move to.
