March 3, 2023 Florian Picasso’s new song ‘What’s The Next Move’ is mischievous

House producer Florian Picasso has plotted to release a new single and delivered on his promise with his latest record ‘What’s The Next Move’, which has been signed with the new label imprint La Californie Musique, presumably named after the late Pablo Picasso’s home in France, a residence by the name of Villa La Californie. But how does this relate to Florian, you might ask? Well, as his surname suggests, he is the artist’s great-grandson, so it is only fitting that he continues the legacy of the Picasso name.

His new record misbehaves. A disembodied voice urges us not ‘get caught’. Like a conversation between two troublemakers, the vocals call to a well-meaning but rule-breaking part that exists in all of us. And to bolster this naughty quality, the producer draws out tense builds with alarming energy before dive-bombing into a pool of crisp hats that float on a shimmering surface of the higher frequency ranges.

Super Plage is back with another light-hearted record (read our feature on his song ‘Forêt magique’ here), a feel-good tune titled ‘Laurence’. Released with the label Lisbon Lux Records, the track is a teaser of the musician’s forthcoming LP Magie à minuit, which will be released on the 31st of March, making it the fourth album he has released after his projects Super Plage I, Super Plage II, and Électro-Vacances. Without further ado, onto the single.

Stream / Download: Super Plage – ‘Laurence’

First, you may be asking, who is Laurence? We don’t know, but we sure do enjoy the personality that this French-Canadian producer brings to the table. Giving us no clues, he tells us,  “Laurence is a song for Laurence. It is a little bit punk like Laurence and a little bit melancholic like Laurence. It is also a song to party to.” We can’t help but smile at his playful attitude.

His music has an effortlessness to it. It’s easy listening. Despite being sung in French, listeners needn’t speak the language to catch what Super Plage is throwing. He has managed to distil the memories of a night out into a heady elixir of gliding synths, subtle drums, and gentle vocal delivery.

French electronic music producer PLEEG has shared his latest offering, a single titled ‘Still Friends’, with the help of his label Quality Goods Records. From lush breakdowns to modulated drops, ‘Still Friends’ epitomises PLEEG’s style.

Stream / Download: PLEEG – ‘Still Friends’

Like a thousand-piece puzzle, the single is comprised of many loose elements, brought into harmony by the producer’s heightened sense of song arrangement. When one part falls away, another jumps in to fill its place, excluding, of course, the timed moments of silence that make serve the song as much, if not more, than the notes themselves.

PLEEG is increasingly being mentioned in the press, having recently gained the support of the recognised publication Run The Trap, which had nothing but good things to say about his latest song. “The stunning record is nothing short of a vibrant and heartfelt anthem that comes across as unpredictable yet warm and inviting at the same time,” they said, complimenting the artist.

Gowned in gold, German musician KID BE KID breaks down the walls to reveal her true self in her new single ‘Naked Times’, an exploration of what it means to be real in a plastic digital world–a theme further alluded to by the title of her upcoming album Truly A Life Goal But No Ice Cream, which will see streaming platforms on the 9th of June. No disguises here. But who is the artist behind the moniker?

Stream ‘Naked Times’ on SpotifyiTunes

KID BE KID is a trained pianist with an antithetical approach to the traditional approach of playing music. She prefers the liberation that Jazz improvisation provides, composing music akin to the work of English singer FKA twigs, blending soulful vocals with avant-instrumentation to create something bordering the Art Pop genre.

Her musical admixture has gained the attention of magazines listeners will recognise: Complex UK and Jazzwise UK have previously published their support for the Fun In The Church signee, while a station native to her home country, German station Deutschlandfunk Kultur, has aired her work. 2023 will see her tour Europe at venues like the culture centre Kulturetage Halle in Oldenburg, Germany and the live music venue Les Cuizines, Ville de Chelles in France.

KID BE KID Tour Dates 2023

11th March – Kulturetage Halle, Oldenburg, Germany

23rd March – Burghof, Lörrach, Germany

24th March – Les Cuizines, Ville de Chelles (near Paris), France
