Magnetising producer Villows offered a new single ‘Lucid’ via Careless Collective. ThePhiladelphia, USA-based House musician Vince Tobia, alias Villows, draws his inspiration from the works of Rufus Du Sol and Petit Biscuit amongst others.
The vocalisation in ‘Lucid’ is luminous musical workmanship because it is light and breezily flows throughout the track; Ultimately, electrical guitar notes are elegantly accentuated by vocal cords that both appeal to and captivate the listeners. Furthermore, these vocals are akin to figmentsthat awake a deeply hidden need humans have to attract a significant other with unrestricted showering of love.
Villows elaborates on his attraction to the realms of the unconscious in the following way: “I’ve been obsessed with lucid dreaming for as long as I can remember, and while they are rare, I’m very fortunate to have had several in my lifetime. Amongst the lure of endless possibilities, it’s quite beautiful to choose to spend this time imagining someone special. It’s really an ultimate act of love, and the true meaning behind this track”.

Combining her youthful and charismatic aura with her classical training and time spent at the prestigious BRIT School, Shay has finessed the ability to produce undeniably catchy music, whilst maintaining musical maturity. Soaring back into the scene with her highly anticipated EP MILK, Shay’s dynamic abilities continue to flourish. Inspired by the theme of growth, MILK makes reference to the lyrics “Milk Teeth” in “Good Girl Behaviour”. Shay confides, “Every track is about growth or new beginnings or reflecting on myself, in particular, heaven and outgrow. I always write from the heart and from my own experiences and stories. My whole aim with lyricism is to connect with others who are in that frame of mind now or have been there in the past to relate.”
Each track on MILK explores different key feelings and experiences sensed when writing during the lockdown. She continues, “I hope I can inspire other girls, in particular, to get into songwriting as so many female singer/ songwriters inspired me to do so and it’s saved, changed and made my life.” Collaborating with different creatives across all five tracks, there’s an overarching warmth to MILK. Shay’s melodious abilities soar with catharsis, as she strives to capture key moments of her life through her music. At her core, she’s a remarkable storyteller, one that continues to break boundaries and trailblaze into her own realm of indie pop from the soul.

Dynamic producer Sleepy Tom dropped an amazing title track, ‘This Thing Called Life’,under MNRK Music Group from his upcoming EP This Thing Called Life. The producer has worked with great artists in the likes of Grandtheft and Anna Lunoe to name a few.The Vancouver-based musician Cam Tatham alias Sleepy Tom is a force to be reckoned with.
Speaking of forces, ‘This Thing Called Life’ takes a plunge powerfully into the arena of the disco sound. The plays and intermingling of the piano notes, the electric guitar and the breathy vocals take euphoric joys to the brink of faint-heartedness. The lyrics transport the listener to a bliss point where time stands still. ‘This Thing Called Life’ is reminiscent of the excellent sound of Purple Disco Machine.
Sleepy Tom tells us a bit about his intended ambition whilst making the single: “With ‘This Thing Called Life’, I wanted to make a collection of songs that were going to lift me out of my funk. I was looking for music that could satisfy my club cravings, while also leaving room for melody––disco!”
R&B and Alt-Pop hitmaker Cimo Fränkel shared his latest single ‘Burning House (Live from Amsterdam)’ on the 16th of September via Cimo Fränkel / AWAL. The single is taken from the recently released deluxe edition of his debut album Cimo Fränkel via Cimo Fränkel / AWAL. A native of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Cimo is currently based in LA, USA. Cimo tells us that his earliest music education was from his father who was a funk musician who advised him through the DIY mentality of funk culture.
The vocals are incredibly beautiful and awe-inspiring like the sight of the earth from space. The highs and lows of Cimo voice are refined and rich. The melody sits on the threshold of edgy rock. However, it is not a rock ballad. The listener is invited into a world where effortless aspects of acoustic guitar strings merge simply with the vocals.
Cimo Fränkel tells us the motivation behind his embarking on working and releasing the new single,“I’ve always admired CAM as a singer, songwriter and artist. When I first heard ‘Burning House’ I fell in love with the melody and message of the song right away and was immediately inspired to make my own version of it”.
