‘gaze’ into the latest experimental release from sweeep and Sace

This past weekend was an interesting one for many reasons but none more so than the collaboration between sweeep and Sace on their latest single, ‘gaze’ via the renowned Secret Souls imprint. The single follows the release of their previous project, burn down my mind which also featured Sace’s side project, Silent Boy. If you’re getting a bit lost, bear with us as we still have few more interesting contenders to enter the ring. Both singles will appear on an upcoming collaborative project spearheaded by lo-fi royalty eevee. Her Secret Souls imprint was created to become the “go to place” to search for mellow and relaxing music.

sweeep and Sace’s ‘gaze’ draws us back to the present day as her ethereal vocals meet the mellow basslines. The single is unhurried, luxuriating in its own synths and finding purchase in the mystical. We wouldn’t be surprised if it found itself on a dark wave playlist or two, flirting with a witch-house track next door.

The two producers tell us about their creation: “Both of us have been known producers in the same underground scene for a few years and its not many people from Stockholm who are into that type of music, so it felt natural that we should work on something together. Now we are both evolving our sounds by adding our vocals on the beats, which could move our music into a new context that is yet to be discovered.”

London-based producer STIKMATIK offers up a forward-thinking blend of R&B vocal samples and futuristic house flair on “Reasons,” a scorching new single. Blending an impassioned topline with propulsive bass tailor-made for the dancefloor, it finds STIKMATIK bridging music’s past and present with irresistible results as he continues to establish a signature sound.

STIKMATIK explains, “The song was one of my favorites from the 2000s, when I popped the hook over that hypnotic bass melody I knew it was a winning feeling. R&B and dance play a massive part in my world because they encourage great energy, only right I bring it to the people 🙂”

Growing up in North London in the ‘90s as the youngest child of a Mauritian and Indian immigrant family, STIKMATIK was positioned within a rich melting pot of cultures that naturally led to a dynamic mix of musical influences, from garage to hip-hop and jungle. He would eventually enter the grime scene as the music phenomenon took over his neighborhood, learning to make beats and MC which informed his musical palate moving forward.

In subsequent years, STIKMATIK would sign to RCA/Sony Music in 2018 as part of the electronic trio Mad Teeth and perform at the legendary festival Tomorrowland. Once 2020 arrived, he decided to step out solo and stretch his sound across the electronic spectrum with a passion for all corners of dance music. Since going solo, STIKMATIK has been on a prolific run that’s included multiple EPs, a slew of singles and remixes, and a singular creative vision that’s included launching his independent label, SAME PEOPLES. The behind-the-scenes collaborations haven’t stopped for STIKMATIK, though, as he’s selectively written and produced for essential artists like BANKS, Wauve, Rocky NTI, DJ Tiesto, BMW KENNY, and Lucky Rose. Wherever STIKMATIK sets his sights, deeply compelling music is soon to follow.

May 20, 2022 ELIS NOA share daring song ‘Mad About You’

ELIS NOA share daring song ‘Mad About You’

An honest track with a whole lot of glowing attitude, ELIS NOA’s latest song ‘Mad About You’ gives one chills with its engaging and delightfully confrontational lyrics. Frustrated with the toxic traits one can find in certain relationships, singer and songwriter Elisa, wanted to shine a light on these emotionally suffocating thoughts and feelings one can experience as a result.

Stream/ download: ‘Mad About You’

Elisa shares more thoughts on this poignant and important song: “As we wandered through the very different stages of letting go, ‘Mad About You’ is a moment of anger and disappointment. I felt misunderstood, left out and pushed away. It is also a crucial song and turning point inside the album. While writing, I understood that all anger and disappointment really were an expression of myself, responding to inner insecurities and expectations.  I realized that my feelings belonged to me and were my responsibility. How somebody makes you feel has a lot to do with yourself and very little with the other.“

Mad About You’ features on POP_GROUND.fm

Taking a more bold approach from its predecessor lyrically and production-wise, we get a multifaceted view of what we can expect with ELIS NOA’s forthcoming album I Was Just About To Leave. The LP is set for official release on the 27th of May via Las Vegas Records. We got our first taste of the album with the R&B track ‘Weights’ which took a more ethereal route in terms of its production stylings, however, we are not mad with the production on this spirited track.
