MOGAN personifies internal struggle in music video for song ‘Hireth’

Cardiff musician MOGAN has shared their video for their second single ‘Hireth’, the single features on their EP Gutter, which released on the 24th of April 2020. The mix and mastering of ‘Hireth’ were done by Cardiff conductor Minas (Hana2k, Luke RV and Dead Method). So far, MOGAN has recieved support from Music Week, Reverbs and God Is In The TV Zine, and broadcasted on Walya’s Act Normal show for Noods Radio and Razorblade the Tape.

MOGAN has a love for exploring the underground music scene and supporting other artists linked to their sound. They have cited avant-garde acts like Bjork, Liars, Peaches, Dirty Beaches and Broadcast as highly influential to their artistry. The ‘Hireth’ video was filmed by Patrick Bethell, who assisted MOGAN in capturing the character’s internal struggle and mental state, and the implications of your internal battle clashing with what the external world expects from you.

MOGAN adds their thoughts“The video for Hireth explores the parallels between passion and aggression of the male form. I’d initially wanted to remain off-screen for the video, but Jesus had other ideas and sent floods to Wales meaning our actors couldn’t make it. Luckily Patrick Bethell is a good friend of mine so didn’t mind getting close and personal! Some might say it was my plan all along…”

Music duo Neon Neet releases new EP “Persuasion”

Neon Neet will drop their debut EP ‘Persuasion’, along with their third single and title track on April 17, 2020.

The single ‘Persuasion’ is both a homage to a healthy ego and a reminder to trust one’s own gut instinct. It’s about not letting people talk you into something you have a bad feeling about. It’s about believing in yourself and not letting other people’s opinions control you. Self-assurance and confidence will help pull you away from toxic people and thoughts while the recurring distorted samples in ‘Persuasion’ symbolise annoying voices and disturbing communications.

There are four songs on the EP, listed and released in alphabetical order. Starting with Neon Neet’s angry debut single ‘Extension’, the EP calms down with ‘Loop You’ and ‘Persuasion’ and ends almost mantra-like with ‘Unzip’.

‘Loop You’ picks up the storyline from Neon Neet’s debut single ‘Extension’, but where the first track’s catchy chorus “I can’t do it on my own” called for help in a crisis, ‘Loop You’ dives far deeper into feelings of helplessness and desperation. Appealing to self-confidence ‘Persuasion’ takes a pass on toxic people and thematically links into the fourth track on the EP ‘Unzip’, which is about finding inner peace: “…all the things I need I have inside my heart“.

Manchester music producer DEADLIFE releases new synthwave album

Machester-based music producer DEADLIFE has officially released his latest album, City of Eternal Rain via NRW Records. He has been supported by influential wave Youtube channel called NewRetroWave in recent months, which led to his stream count rising to over 3.2 million plays on major streaming platforms. His debut album Bionic Chrysalis was voted as Best Synthwave Album 2017 by publication MetalSucks, and also received commercial success on US Billboards’ Electronic Album sales top 20 chart, along with his 2019 album Singularity.

Growing up in the shabby Crewe area in the UK, DEADLIFE would spend a lot of time indoors playing video games. The music producer was a drummer in a band before pursuing his solo career in electronic music production. After several tours, he realized that he felt held back creatively. DEADLIFE always had a vivid imagination and a more sensitive demeanor. He would use these qualities to produce music of his own liking. The music producer is inspired by the emotional qualities of video game soundtracks with his music. He has also cited influences from artists like Disasterpeace, Justice, deadmau5, Sigur Ros, Refused and Deftones.

Speaking of his album DEADLIFE adds, “City of Eternal Rain is a concept album that is inspired by the direct contrast between dark and light. That no matter how bad things get, there is always hope. The record is, like many of them, created to feel like you’ve heard it before, but you don’t remember it, to instill nostalgia in your mind and remind you of a time your memory grasps at but can’t quite recall. I’ve realised in life it takes more bravery and courage to be who you are and bare all, rather than to hide it away, which we often do, which I did in my younger years. It’s time to be honest, to directly reflect that which I feel within what I write.”
