PREMIERE: Indie band The Assist rebel with song ‘Television Kid’

Life is more than just a runway show or performance stage with The Assist’s latest track ‘Television Kid’. An indie track that will have you chained to its rhythm, the band wrote this song about all those people constantly chasing attention and fame. As an effect, they lose their sense of reality and end up spiraling, losing things that they hold close to their heart in the process. The band have been going strong independently since their inception in 2014, performing alongside acts like Blossoms and Black Honey. Not feeling the need to conform to a certain sound, the act experiment with hip-hop, disco textures, and any topic their heart desires – badass.

Vocalist Mikey shares: “Ambition is an admirable trait and I’m a strong advocate for having dreams that we live and die by. However, it is important to ensure that whilst chasing our dreams we are aware of the bigger picture that is life. In order to grow and maintain a realistic outlook on life it is important to acknowledge that defeat is very much possible and as individuals we aren’t invincible.”

Nostalgic for days spent in high school blasting anthemic emo music through your headphones as you walk down the hallway to your next class? We feel the same way too, and wish we could go back to those carefree days when you didn’t have to worry about making ends meet. Giant Sky’s latest album Not Today via Bloody Sunset Records is an instant nostalgia train, reminding the listener of their days spent being a carefree adolescent.

Stream/Download: Not Today album

Previously featured on iGuitar and on RCRD LBL with song ‘Snow’, we mentioned: “Lyrics like “The world goes crazy, but you and I remain the same/ There’s no way that I can go into the void of my own” spreads a message of light & connection in times of darkness. One can easily fold and let physical isolation rob you of your sanity and happiness. Giant Sky’s ‘Snow’ reminds one that no true connection is ever lost if it is real.”

Download on iTunes: Not Today album

Listening to this entire album one will be two tissues away from destroying a packed box for sure. This album covers feelings of isolation, acceptance and finding a home to call your own. A lot of heart is poured into this work and its energetic production is evident in each track and essentially is what a memorable indie-rock hit consists of. Let your hair down and shake along to the beat of Giant Sky – A band with character and worth the listen in a time of much chaos.

December 1, 2020 Alt-pop trio Polary release upbeat song ‘Nothing In Common’

Alt-pop trio Polary release upbeat song ‘Nothing In Common’

Since bursting onto the scene with blistering singles “Nothing” and “Losing Sleep,” electrifying alt-pop three-piece Polary continue to impress with their latest release “Nothing In Common. Based in Cheltenham, this vivacious young band are masters of the alt-pop genre, seamlessly blending the sound of heavy guitars and nostalgic synths against rousing pop vocals and effortlessly wrapping it all together in stellar production value. This new release is the perfect showcase for their sound that can be heard in full effect in lockdown-inspired hit Nothing In Common.

Speaking about the single frontman Harry explains “I was consciously writing something really different lyrically this time. It’s been a mixture of finding the right sound to embody this, and also putting to bed anything I wanted to say in the previous singles. “Nothing In Common” is about young romance and the reckless attitude that goes with it. You think everything at that point in your life is so big, and recalling that feeling felt right for this single.”

Having already landed a coveted slot on the Neu Stage at 2000 Trees Festival, racked up performances alongside The Faim, Circa Waves, The Beaches and YONAKA , whilst also getting nods from Rock Sound and Upset magazine, this young trio have proven themselves quick off the mark when it comes to industry recognition and if Nothing In Common” is anything to go by, this is sure to continue!
