Phantasmagoric producer Villows unveils ‘Lucid’

Magnetising producer Villows offered a new single ‘Lucid’ via Careless Collective. The Philadelphia, USA-based House musician Vince Tobia, alias Villows, draws his inspiration from the works of Rufus Du Sol and Petit Biscuit amongst others.

The vocalisation in ‘Lucid’ is luminous musical workmanship because it is light and breezily flows throughout the track; Ultimately, electrical guitar notes are elegantly accentuated by vocal cords that both appeal to and captivate the listeners. Furthermore, these vocals are akin to figments that awake a deeply hidden need humans have to attract a significant other with unrestricted showering of love.

Villows elaborates on his attraction to the realms of the unconscious in the following way: “I’ve been obsessed with lucid dreaming for as long as I can remember, and while they are rare, I’m very fortunate to have had several in my lifetime. Amongst the lure of endless possibilities, it’s quite beautiful to choose to spend this time imagining someone special. It’s really an ultimate act of love, and the true meaning behind this track”.

Agnes releases ‘Magic Still Exists’ album and lets her “spiritual disco” flag fly

Swedish dance-pop maestro Agnes has released her latest album Magic Still Exists via Universal music. The songstress has been in the spotlight since the tender age of 16, and her major global dancefloor hit ‘Release Me’ topped Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs, reached the Top Ten in charts worldwide and sold over 900,000 copies in the UK alone.

She has since gone on to release a string of hits – but Magic Still Exists is a stunning artistic leap forward. After taking a long break, this album release sees her making a strong statement of creativity, with a truly diverse tracklist. However, the LP has no shortage of commanding dance-pop vibes and certainly calls for repeated listens.

She explains the process behind it: “‘Magic Still Exists’ is a collection of epiphanies about what it means to be human and our need to constantly search for something bigger, something more. The album was made together with friends and the process has therefore been very intimate. Something that made me relax, let go and have fun with it”.

DJ and Music producer Alex Virgo releases new EP “Cheap Thrills”

London-based DJ and producer Alex Virgo is the latest artist to debut on TRICK, dropping ‘Cheap Thrills’, a club-ready, four-track EP, out 3rd April.

The title track kicks things off, a slick, synth-driven dancefloor-filler that sets the tone for the rest of the EP. ‘Flex’ then follows a similar route – high-energy, pumping house music that builds to a climax, before ‘Tallywhacker’ shifts things into more metallic, techno-oriented waters while losing none of the intensity. EP closer ‘Chorus Tool’ asserts itself with the kind of four-to-the-floor throb that the TRICK imprint is quickly becoming synonymous with.

Singer Shawn Hook unveils new song, ‘I Don’t Wanna Dance’

Canadian singer, songwriter and producer Shawn Hook delivers his heartfelt new single ‘I Don’t Wanna Dance’.

An honest, emotion-filled song, ‘I Don’t Wanna Dance’ sees Shawn lay his love on the line. With lyrics such as ‘I just want to talk now, but honestly I’m inside out, I’m blending with the walls and they’re closing in on me’ the British Columbia-born artist looks inwards and channels his feelings into his work.
