Indie electronic musician Mary Mi releases EP, Carnival Sounds

Mary Mi is a swedish artist, songwriter and producer that grew up in Vänersborg, but is now based in Örebro, Sweden. Her playful tunes are influenced by indie/folkmusic, which makes an interesting mix when the melodies meet her melancholic lyrics.

In 2019 Mary Mi released her debut EP called ”019-18” with lyrics based on colorful heartbreaks and moral dilemmas. Later the same year she released the single ‘‘rumbling applause”, inviting a messy, electronic sound to the folk melodies.

Downtempo composer Nuit Oceān uplifts with EP, Fire Divine

Music producer Nuit  Oceān releases his inspiring EP Fire Divine via ROUGE NEON RECORDS today, just in time for winding down this weekend.

Born with the name Steve Mesmin, Nuit Oceān is a well-traveled French composer, that has roots in the DRC and Algeria. His mother would indulge him by playing the saxophone frequently. These factors would lead him on his own musical journey, and we are so grateful for that.

This EP shows the essence of vulnerability and strength in one breath. It is a work of art that can be interpreted in multiple meanings, but we can all agree that this EP is fragrant and colorful as well as easy on the ears.

Nuit Oceān elaborates on the concept behind the EP: “I always have this “mantra” in my head during the creating and recording process: “When there is nothing left. When you no longer have the strength to move forward. There he is, in each of us… The FIRE DIVINE guides us to a better version of ourselves, towards a brighter future. Let it flow.”

October 15, 2020 Music producer Dirty Freud releases entrancing electro-pop song, ‘Blood Bayou’

Music producer Dirty Freud releases entrancing electro-pop song, ‘Blood Bayou’

Taken from the upcoming EP: ‘Love In The Backwater’, set for release on Modern Sky UK this Winter, the track is the follow-up to ‘Intentions’ (ft. Szou) – his debut release on the tastemaker label.

Complementing the new single, “Blood Bayou” arrives with a hypnotic animated video as created by visual artist Micah Buzan. Watch the video: https://youtu.be/D3VYDbUyNcQ

As dense, swampy and enveloping in sound as the southern-American marshland for which it owes its name, “Blood Bayou” finds the Sheffield-based producer coalescing myriad influences with Frankensteinian aplomb. As Freud says:

“This is talking about how love is never clean and is often messy with casualties. Yet it can be full of interesting things as a Bayou swamp can be…”

Steadily making his name in the electronic underground with a number of innovative creations already coined “Electrodub” by some, listeners will find references to dubstep, 2-step garage, bassline, reggae and more on this latest single. From Ruby Tingle’s haunting Ennio Morricone-esque whistle in its opening bars that lull like a siren song, to the burbling synth-driven soundscapes that subsume and intoxicate beyond, Dirty Freud delivers a bewitching new cut to lose yourself in over repeated plays. In typical Dirty Freud fashion, a heavy Electro-inspired production catalyses a second drop unafraid to pack a punch…

Dirty Freud is an electronic live & recording artist from London, but has found success since moving to the North of England. Impressing respected DJs such as Jon More (of Cold Cut), DJ Krush, and Dave Haslam early on his career with his cutting edge remixes and productions; word began to spread throughout the music world, with Dirty Freud’s distinct touch soon sought-after by established artists including Leeroy Thornhill of The Prodigy, Scott Garcia, Willy Mason, Big Narstie, Pixie Lott, and even Iggy Pop.

With a string of remarkable original productions already under his belt (including widely acclaimed 2018 EP: ‘Boxing with God’), Freud has been supported at radio by stations including BBC 1Xtra and BBC Radio 6, whilst receiving media praise from The Guardian, DJ Mag, and MixMag, who proclaimed him to be: “The Unruly Prince of Electronica”. In true recognition of his trailblazing work, Dirty Freud also scooped ‘Best New DJ’ and ‘Best New Producer’ at the prestigious Bass Movement Awards. Last year proved a benchmark year for Dirty Freud as his sound was given even bigger stages to flourish, with sets at Glastonbury, All Points East, Citadel, Boomtown, Beatherder, as well as internationally in countries like Germany, Croatia and France.

In 2020,  Dirty Freud returns focus to the studio as he readies a new EP: ‘Love In The Backwater’ this Winter. Written and inspired by multiple locations, from the infamous Tresor and Hansa Studios of Berlin, to Spirit Studios and Blueprint Studios  in Manchester, to the legendary Yellow Arch Studios in Freud’s hometown of Sheffield; the EP was eventually finalised in lockdown and palpably walks a tightrope of lockdown claustrophobia and the exhilaration of club escapism.  Inspired by some of life’s most impactful moments, from bitter break ups (“Blood Bayou”) to surviving a pandemic (“Love In The Backwater”); to taking a carpe diem attitude to life (“Intentions”) and examining the enduring effect of split second choices (“Moments”); Dirty Freud wields his experiences and forges them into an exhilarating new release definitive of the artist.

September 30, 2020 Indie pop music producer Sfven releases new EP, Honey

Indie pop music producer Sfven releases new EP, Honey

Jamie Clarke, AKA Sfven, is a 22 year old music producer from Derby who has already been receiving notable support early on in his career. His lo-fi debut EP ‘Like I Love U,’ which was released earlier this year, quickly caught the attention of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac and the station’s new music champion Jack Saunders. He has also received support from the likes of BBC Introducing, MTV, DIY Magazine, Clash, Dork, Notion and The Independent.

The second EP from Sfven, ‘The Honey EP’ is the producer’s most cohesive statement yet. Sonically, it draws heavily on the very same classic songwriters that Sfven remembers from his childhood, clashing timeless melody progressions and emotion-packed lyrics with breezy, forward thinking production.

“I just wanted to make something that you can boogie to, but also focus on lyrically.” says Sfven. “I think my favourite part has just been experimenting with new sounds, figuring out a direction and whether it sticks. This EP turned out feeling a lot more cohesive than the last one, even though I went a bit out of my comfort zone. Hopefully that comes through.”

Sfven’s recent single ‘Changing,’ which features on The Honey EP, received solid playlist support across DSPS including Spotify ‘NMF UK,’ ‘Peach,’ Apple Music ‘New Music Daily [x20 countries],’ Deezer ‘Brand New UK’ and Amazon ‘Brand New Music and ‘Breakthrough UK.’ The official music video was also added to MTV’s Rocks Chart playlist.

Honey EP also includes previously released single ‘Saint’ as well as the upcoming focus track ‘Honey.’ Standing firm and holding on to who you really are is a recurring theme on ‘Honey.’ The official music video, which is set in Norfolk, follows a unique and romantic storyline of two sock puppets who fall in love at first sight and get married.

Also featured on the EP is the track ‘Funeral’ which became a metaphor for losing a part of your identity. “It became about having a funeral for a part of yourself” Sfven explains, “and having a partner that makes you change – and almost kill a part of yourself – to fit their mould and expectations”

Hotly tipped by the likes of Dork and MTV, backed by Annie Mac and Jack Saunders, and currently hard at work on his debut album set for release next year, Sfven is a one-of-a-kind artist set to make some massive waves in the forthcoming future.
