May 24, 2022 ‘gaze’ into the latest experimental release from sweeep and Sace

‘gaze’ into the latest experimental release from sweeep and Sace

This past weekend was an interesting one for many reasons but none more so than the collaboration between sweeep and Sace on their latest single, ‘gaze’ via the renowned Secret Souls imprint. The single follows the release of their previous project, burn down my mind which also featured Sace’s side project, Silent Boy. If you’re getting a bit lost, bear with us as we still have few more interesting contenders to enter the ring. Both singles will appear on an upcoming collaborative project spearheaded by lo-fi royalty eevee. Her Secret Souls imprint was created to become the “go to place” to search for mellow and relaxing music.

sweeep and Sace’s ‘gaze’ draws us back to the present day as her ethereal vocals meet the mellow basslines. The single is unhurried, luxuriating in its own synths and finding purchase in the mystical. We wouldn’t be surprised if it found itself on a dark wave playlist or two, flirting with a witch-house track next door.

The two producers tell us about their creation: “Both of us have been known producers in the same underground scene for a few years and its not many people from Stockholm who are into that type of music, so it felt natural that we should work on something together. Now we are both evolving our sounds by adding our vocals on the beats, which could move our music into a new context that is yet to be discovered.”

dj poolboi, a well-known chill producer hailing from Austin, Texas, has recently released his latest single, ‘la nuit n’en finit plus’ with award-winning singer Clio. The single has been paired with a music video, directed by Julie Reynaud, who is known for creating the first music video for the French-indie band Video Club. The young producer has a busy schedule arranged for 2022, with his upcoming LP, stay just a little while longer slated for release on the 4th of March followed by a tour of Europe and the UK. You can find the Tickets for sale here. We’d like to give you an idea of what to expect from either but based on his previously released single, take me far away, your guess is as good as ours. What we do know if that it will be carefully crafted yet infused with chilled vibes from the get-go.

Speaking of the video, Julie Reynaud tells us: “When minutes seems to be hours in an endless night, what about going out for a nocturnal walk in the city of light celebrating being alive? I think this what is about this music video: turning loneliness from burden to blessing”.

January 11, 2021 Celebrated music producer Wax Tailor defies genres with unusual LP

Celebrated music producer Wax Tailor defies genres with unusual LP

As soon as we saw the dystopian society created in Wax Tailor’s music video for ‘Misery ft. Rosemary Standley’, we knew he was one to watch. We also found out about his latest album, Shadow Of Their Suns, which immediately earned itself a page in our release diary. On Friday, 8th of January, we were finally treated to the long-awaited album and it’s been played on repeat since then.

Where do we start? Wax Tailor’s reverence for displaying other artist’s vocals is something else. Take ‘Shinning Dog ft. Boog Brown’ and ‘Deja Vu ft. Adeline’ – two completely different songs, one after another, that almost lend themselves to different categories. Boog Brown’s syncopation is smooth and unwavering while weaving us into a hip hop rhythmic slumber. ‘Deja Vu ft Adeline’, on the other hand sweeps us back in time, with distorted and discomforting tones that echo throughout the LP.

Stream / Download The Shadow Of Their Suns

‘The Shadow Of Their Suns’ is an allegory for the different kind of powers that control our world. I’ve always kept this image in mind of the 99% who live in the shadow of these artificial lights,  segregation, politics and mass-media. From a musical point of view, I really wanted to give more space to instrumental arrangements and my own storytelling around this topic. I’m not a lesson-giver but nothing is really neutral, we live in a sick world and music can be food for thought.”– Wax Tailor provides some insight on the album.

Cadet Carter, a band known for their indie-rock stylings that keep fans intrigued, have released the music video for their latest single, ‘The Best Part’. Both the single and the video were released today via 8 Ohm Records. The video was directed by Bastian Scholl, who uses the chance to explore childhood memories and nostalgia.

“I am so happy Cadet Carter has asked me to work with them on their new video. The song is probably the most optimistic thing that came out this year and I wanted to give the video a melancholic but still positive spin. I can not wait for everybody to listen to the song and watch the video!”Bastian Scholl tells us about the joys of working on the video.

Stream/ Download: ‘The Best Part’

The band have been compared to the likes of Blink 182, Knuckle Puck and Biffy Clyro and the comparisons stand true, as the soaring guitar riffs and spirited vocals take centre stage. The final impression of childhood play times resulting in long-lasting is the positive reinforcement we were needing to end the year on.
