ANIQO shares chilling new video for ‘Fear’

Psychedelic songstress ANIQO has released a video to accompany her new track ‘Fear.’ Directed by Matthias Pfeiffer (aka Pupillendriller) and produced by Guy Sternberg (Keane, Feist, Yoko Ono, Kings of Convenience) the video is a haunting visual translation of a potent track.

Stream/ download: ‘Fear’

On ‘Fear’ ANIQO speaks of the control measures implemented by media, government, and religion, using masks and dimly-lit scenes as a literal translation. The evocative visuals are well suited to the atmosphere of the track, leaving the viewer with a strong message.

Speaking of the concept behind the video, ANIQO tells us: “The video symbolizes confrontations with various fears… Matthias and I have a similar perspective on the world, also in aesthetic terms.  To visualize the feeling of a song is not easy but we managed to do that here.  Fear has many faces and I became even more aware of that during the shoot.”

September 29, 2021 Electropop duo Let’s Eat Grandma share new song in the last three years

Electropop duo Let’s Eat Grandma share new song in the last three years

Let’s Eat Grandma, the duo composed of songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth, are today excited to share their first single in three years.

Hall Of Mirrors”, out now via Transgressive, is an ethereal, glistening pop song about a beautiful, intense moment remembered, and a welcome return for the acclaimed Norwich pair. The track comes with a hazy, dreamlike video directed by El Hardwick.

Rosa Walton said the following about the song and video: “I wanted to use the setting of a fairground at night to describe the dizziness, intensity and excitement of being with a woman I had strong feelings for, and the hall of mirrors as a metaphor for discovering and exploring parts of myself that I was bringing to life. In some ways it’s reflective and almost secretive, journeying through confusing and difficult emotions, but I also wanted Hall of Mirrors to be a euphoric song that conveys clarity, confidence, and ultimately joy.”

The single received its first radio plays last night on Jack Saunders’ BBC Radio 1 show as his Power Play and this morning on Lauren Laverne’s BBC Radio 6 Music show as her While You Were Sleeping track. Stream / watch Hall Of Mirrors” below. News of more music from Let’s Eat Grandma is to come.

September 7, 2021 Stellar dance-pop singer Harper Starling shares encouraging music video

Stellar dance-pop singer Harper Starling shares encouraging music video

Dance-pop starlet Harper Starling debuts her new release, “No More What If.” Written by Harper Starling and co-written and co-produced by Cindy Valentine (Bebe Rexha, Britney Spears, Alisha) and Niko The Kid (Outkast, Ariana Grande),No More What If” is a dance-pop anthem designed to get the floor moving, but it’s also an old-fashioned storytelling song — a tale of a creative young woman who loved her home but was also hungry for experience and recognition.

At the core, “No More What If” is an autobiographical tale of Harper taking the leap from her hometown to Los Angeles, the city of dreams. No matter where you’ve grown up, leaving home is hard. If you’re lucky enough to be native to a region as pretty, friendly, and welcoming as Southeastern Wisconsin, it’s tempting to stay in the place you recognize. You might be satisfied with life as you’ve always known it. But if you choose never to chase after your dreams, you may always wonder: what if? Harper unspools this narrative over propulsive beats and sings it all in a voice that shines and moves like a beam of sunlight breaking through the clouds.

The “No More What If” music video premiered exclusively on PopWrapped. The visual, which was directed by Devin J. Dilmore, is moving, heartfelt, and honest, but it’s also quite funny: when the aspiring Harper presents her resume to random passersby on the streets of Hollywood, it’s full of Upper Midwestern in-jokes. Her ability to poke fun at herself, even while she’s pursuing stardom, is incredibly endearing. Underscoring the entirety of the visual is an ode to Southern California: the copious, glorious sunshine, the car rides through glamorous neighborhoods, the scramble up the ladder of showbiz success, and the terrific costumes that the singer gets to wear once she’s made herself at home in Los Angeles.

Olovson is the alias of renowned music producer and collaborator Jacob Oloffson who is well-known for his work with more commercial acts like Dua Lipa and Camila Cabello. He also forms part of the Grammy-award winning duo Jarami. The Olovson moniker has given Jacob the creative room to explore his talent for composing more mellow and ambient sounds with tracks like ‘Gyroscope’ and this video is icing on the cake for the inner child to consume.

Olovson shared that the video was supposed to be about a young mind hungry for adventure. He finds adventure by exploring past inventions in his grandparent’s basement. Olovson finds inspiration for his music in the simple pleasures of life and the endless possibilities the mind can create when you let it flourish with new and old knowledge.
