Dynamic artist Madjo releases Rebellion album, along with powerful music video

Singer songwriter and musician Madjo released her third album Rebellion on June 14 2024. The French-Swiss Senegalese artist has received praise from the likes of EARMILK, Music Crowns, Southern FM, Konbini, Rock n Fool and Radio France to name just a few. In this album, Madjo bares her soul as Rebellion addresses deeply personal issues, challenges, fears and triumphs.

Rebellion is overflowing with passion, turmoil, frustration, and sincere emotion as she comes to terms with her fears about the rapid decline of the environment, her struggle with becoming a mother, as well as the new found joy her child has given her. The focus track ‘Rebellion’ illustrates this perfectly, as she sings a powerful chorus, layered with heavy-hearted verses. Madjo’s voice is iconic as it glides over the emotive chords and captivating melody. She also released a poignant music video for the title track.

Madjo’s journey into motherhood was the catalyst behind the message of this album. She understood her duty to pass on knowledge which inspired her to write about life, the climate emergency, love, beauty and femininity. The theme of the music video portrays a feeling of needing to break free from societal shackles, and ends on the possibility of a better future for all. Director Diane Moyssan and Madjo wanted the video to depict the rigidity we often experience in our day-to-day lives. The black and white music video blurs the lines of time as Madjo is indoors, between three walls. The music video addresses feelings of mistreatment by a system that immobilises and mistreats us. Aside from this, it shows us that nother world is possible, that there is hope.

Dave Curl – Soulful singer-songwriter releases ‘Don’t Talk Anymore’ Single & Video

Independent Australian-Swiss singer-songwriter and producer Dave Curl releases his iconic single & video ’Don’t Talk Anymore’. He recently released a unique sophomore LP, Lockdown – Seven Nations, on February 23, 2024. Boasting over 1.5 million streams on Spotify, airplay on numerous indie radio stations in Germany and abroad. With performances in the respected Kulturkoller Club and around 20 other locations, Dave Curl has shown no signs of slowing down. The prolific performer has released nearly two dozen singles, two EPs, and the 2021 full-length album, Introducing. His newest project promises listeners an infectious and thought-provoking concoction of rock and roll.

With a glitchy introduction ‘Don’t Talk Anymore’ beckons the listener with bluesy guitar and an edgy bass line with a syncopated drum groove in a classic tone. Dave Curl shared: ‘Don’t Talk Anymore’ captures the modern epidemic of disconnection, as people immerse themselves in smartphones rather than meaningful conversation. Inspired by a train journey through the Italian part of Switzerland, Dave Curl was struck by the eerie silence of fellow passengers glued to their screens. Expecting lively chatter, he instead found an irritating scene of silence. This moment sparked the idea of ‘Don’t Talk Anymore’. The song serves as an ironic reminder of the importance of meaningful communication in an increasingly virtual world.

Nastiya Kai – Nomadic soul and boundless musical spirit releases a wild & raw new single and video ‘Demons’.

Emerging alt pop sensation Nastiya Kai shares another single and music video, ‘Demons’ via her imprint Nastiya Kai Music. The single offers a taste of what is to come with her debut album, Demon Era, slated for release on May 31st, 2024. Burr Island – Alternative Indie Folk duo, from the West Country release new single ‘Your Eyes, My Eyes’.

London born and based acoustic folk duo Burr Island are set to release their latest single, ‘Your Eyes, My Eyes’, on May 10th via Left Foot Records. The track garnered support from UK-based music and fashion magazine CLASH Magazine and airplay BBC 6 Radio’s Cerys. ‘Later’ follows the recent release of their fifth single, ‘Our Home’. The band has received praise from industry giants like Robert Plant and Noel Gallagher. With 250,000 streams across all platforms for their first four releases and their debut album on the way in 2024, the future looks promising for the Burr Island boys.

‘Your Eyes, My Eyes’ is a sweet piano ballad full of feeling, an easy yet poignant listen. The pair offer beautiful lilting vocal lines with warm choral backing vocals straight out of a CSNY album. The track is timeless and tender, an ode to the devotion felt in all of love’s forms.

Burr Island divulged: “This is a love song for anyone who wants it. Whether you’re a grandmother cherishing the time with your young grandchild, friends with an unbreakable bond, star-crossed lovers sinking into each other’s eyes or somebody trying to communicate with the loved one they’ve lost. Like most of our songs, it was written on guitar and it remained a guitar song until the very last minute. We were never fully happy with the old version and felt the song needed a gentler tone. The brilliant Nikolaj Torp Larsen (The Specials) agreed to play piano for the new version and as soon as we heard his performance, we knew it was the one. We feel that sonically it’s added another texture to the album.”
