Interview with Dutch singer Bobbi

Dutch singer Bobbi toured the world as a member of the band Zazi. Together with Zazi, Bobbi performed shows all across the globe: the American Westcoast, Canada, Cape Town, Saint Petersburg and South Korea.

The Song ‘L’Homme de Fer’ is an ode to Bobbi’s ex-boyfriend. In this song, she describes his character full of fire and is kindly mocking and teasing him. Even though he seems tough Bobbi knows, he actually has a big heart.

See our exclusive interview with the singer below

What are some of your earliest memories of music?

Feeling extremely and emotionally touched by hearing the music of Swanlake so that I remember crying out of happiness and intense sadness about the story. Also ‘The Sound of Music’ made a huge impact on me as a young girl. My father taking me to one of his concerts, and being in front of this huge stage, the experience of being amazed and touched by the music and desire to be performing and becoming a musician like my father. To be able to touch through music… So I started to play the cello and sing!

Take us through your songwriting process. Are there any particular steps you take when putting music together?

I need to tell my story, in French it felt most sensual, and it had the perfect sound for ‘An Ode to ‘L’Amour’. I knew I wanted to write with Gerry Arling, so I co-wrote my album “Un Jour” (releasing May 8th 2020) with him. Finding subjects to write about went very natural, every song became a new chapter, and had its own specific mood and sound. Together with my French coach Cristal G., We worked and the songs and she created the lyrics based on my stories for the album. An album about love, lust and desire, all kept in one day “Un Jour”.

Studio work and music creation or performing and interacting with a live audience, which do you prefer?

It was a very long and intense project, now that I am looking back, I am already working 3 years on this album and the release will finally be this year! As much as I loved the studio work and creating the album, recording live and working with amazing musicians (Denis Benarrosh on Drums, Nicolas Fishman on Bass, all keys and authentic instruments from the ’60s and 70’s played by Reyn Ouwehand (The Producer) a string quartet (Quinetique String Quartet) and French Horn (Romain Bly). Above I love the interaction between my music and the audience when it all comes to live.

What is the most memorable response you have had to your music?

Just feeling goosebumps, shivers and tears of joy all at the same time! Only music can do this to human beings, it connects our brain to our heart, our soul, and our deepest feelings.

If you could put together a radio show, what kind of music would you play?

I would play a sequence that reflects life, from being born, and death, and everything the universe beholds in between, to finally being reborn again. All told through music.

Name five artists and their albums who would appear on your radio show

Kate Bush ~ ‘Never Forever’

Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg~ ‘Melody Nelson’

Beatles ~ ‘White Album’

Yma Sumac ~’Mambo’

DangerMouse & Daniele Luppi ~ ‘Rome’

What would you like to achieve with your music? What does success look like to you?

To take you with me in my dream, my own Bobbi universe. About how to be true to my most desired feelings, to be loved, sexually free from any fear, to be able to bring my music through performances all over the world, To be my own Muse, and finally to become immortal through my music.

One last thought to leave your fans with?

Go find your inner desire and follow your dreams. Never be afraid of your own strength, and don’t try to be like ‘someone else’. You are unique!

Jonas Blue and singer-songwriter Tifa Chen releases a new song ‘Billboard’

Multi-platinum superstar Jonas Blue has linked up with Chinese singer-songwriter Tifa Chen on new single ‘Billboard’, out now via Positiva/Virgin EMI Records.

A weightless, carefree slice of modern pop, ‘Billboard’ sees Tifa switch between English and Mandarin vocals, with Jonas delivering a typically polished production to match. It also comes with a captivating official video shot exclusively in Shanghai, with the nation’s hyper-modern cityscapes proving the perfect backdrop for the track’s vibe.

The track was co-written by Jonas alongside songwriting royalties Madison Love, who’s previously penned hits for the likes of Halsey, Machine Gun Kelly and Camilla Cabello, and Sam Roman, who co-wrote Lewis Capaldi’s global smash ‘Someone You Loved’ as well as hits for Demi Lovato, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Elton John, Clean Bandit, Disclosure and Little Mix. Jonas and Sam have previously collaborated on a number of tracks, with Sam co-writing Jonas’ singles ‘Mama’, ‘Rise’ and ‘Polaroid’ (with Liam Payne) and recent single, ‘Younger’ (with HRVY).

One of the most recognisable talents in China, Tifa Chen was the runner-up in the Voice of China contest in 2016, becoming the nation’s ‘Best New Artist’ the following year.

Jonas met Tifa Chen when he played EDC China festival last year when the Nanjing-born artist played him her infectious single, ‘Hustle’. A few months later, Jonas was writing ‘Billboard’ and had the idea of Tifa taking a look at a Mandarin translation of the song. She recorded her demo (keeping the chorus in English) and straight away Jonas knew that the resulting track was a hit.

Marcus King releases a new song ‘Say You Will’

Marcus King has shared the fiery rock ‘n’ roll track, ‘Say You Will’, taken from his Dan Auerbach produced, genre-bending debut solo record, El Dorado – due out Jan 17th, 2020 via Snakefarm Records in the UK.

King comments, “The classic rock ‘n’ roll feel of this song is meant to inspire an emotion to make you want to move. You’ve got Bubba’s kick-drum coming through, heavily pronounced in a bulldozing fashion, and the sleepless fuzz guitar tones are designed to hit a nerve. Combined with the lyrics, this is a song that will take you on a ride through a tapestry of my favourite influences – Mountain, Joe Walsh and Eric Clapton. When listening, you should be rowdy, whether at work or at a cook-out!”

El Dorado is a contemporary exploration of southern R&B, country-soul, classic rock and blues, where subtle acoustics and pedal steel shine bright alongside raucous electric guitars and blistering solos. Marking a new sonic direction and with King’s remarkable voice taking centre-stage, El Dorado is set to further establish him as one of the most soulful voices of his generation.

Meanwhile, lead-off track ‘The Well’ already stands as one of his most successful releases to date, receiving widespread US radio support (#1 on the AAA radio chart in the US week of release), plus critical acclaim from key US tastemakers. The track’s cinematic video is out now.

At just 23 years old, King has established himself as an enthralling world-class live musical talent. He recently embarked on a 70-plus date world tour with The Marcus King Band – one of the hardest working outfits on the scene today, performing over 140 shows in the last calendar year alone. King has also found the time to appear on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and perform with Chris Stapleton on his US arena tour, as well as curating his own hometown festival – The Marcus King Band Family Reunion.

El Dorado was recorded at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio; the songs were written by King and Auerbach along with famed writers, Paul Overstreet, Ronnie Bowman and Pat McLaughlin, and performed by legendary studio musicians who have worked with such iconic artists as Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Bobby Womack. King and Auerbach co-wrote the 12 featured songs for El Dorado in only three days…

On working with King, Auerbach states, “Marcus is known by so many as a phenom guitar player, and rightfully so. He’s regularly the best player in the room, hands down. However, I was equally blown away by the way he can sing – so effortless, so soulful, straight from the heart.”

Playing professionally since he was 11 years old and discovered in his teens after a video of him performing at Norman’s Rare Guitars went viral, King is a fourth-generation musician who followed in his family’s footsteps. His grandfather was a country guitarist, and his father continues to perform live. King recently made his debut at The Grand Ole Opry, playing his grandfather’s guitar
