Dream-pop duo The Ghost of Helags share ‘Night Summer Waiting’ video

Driven by its crisp electronic percussion, ‘Night Summer Waiting’ recalls the majestic dream-pop masterworks of Still Corners or Chromatics. The song was written earlier in 2020, at a small Italian hilltop town under the fading Summer sun.

“Watching the world with restless eyes… keep up, don’t fall behind” sings Teresa Woischiski, lyrics defiant with notions of escapism, yet tinted with a world-wary melancholy. “Night Summer Waiting, what you keep within, you can do without”, she lulls, her crystalline vocal rising through layers of dreamy atmospheric synthesisers and elegiac piano motifs.

The Ghost of Helags are singer-songwriter and producer duo Teresa Woischiski and John Alexander Ericson. Hailing from Sweden and now located in Berlin, the pairing combine the dream pop sounds of their Scandinavian roots with the electronic nuances inspired by their newfound home and beyond. ‘Night Summer Waiting’ is the latest in a string of innovative and exploratory tracks by the duo and follows recent 2020 singles including the Chemical Brothers-inspired ‘Parallel’ and the seductive Lynchian-inspired synth-pop of recent single ‘Chemistry’. Other highlights of their continually expanding repertoire include the New Music Friday playlisted debut single ‘I Carry Your Heart’, ‘Autobahn Lullaby’ (a tribute to their Berlin home) and 2019’s hymnal ‘The Santa Rosa Song’.

River Into Lake announce new EP, The Crossing

“Impatience” is River Into Lake ́s second single off the 10” EP “The Crossing”, that is to be released on December 4th via Humpty Dumpty Records. In the continuity of the previous album

“Let the beast out”, the EP is tinted by the mix of analog synthesizers and acoustic instruments, and dealing with current problems. Each song is accompanied by a visual from by David Delruelle, which is supporting its point.

“’Impatience’ deals with the anxieties that may have arisen during the crisis we are all living through. Based on a co-written text with Aurélie Muller (Blondy Brownie / Trésor), the track is inspired as much by the prepper wave that has developed terribly in recent years, as by people who rushed into stores at the start of the health crisis- examples that remind us that we are so few in the face of fear and that during this time, the earth continues its cycle around the galaxy…”

November 4, 2020 Listen to ‘The Best Part’ of the year with Cadet Carter’s latest song

Listen to ‘The Best Part’ of the year with Cadet Carter’s latest song

Pause and consider “The Best Part” of the year with Cadet Carter and their newly premiered single. Due for release on the 13th of November via 8 Ohm Records, ‘The Best Part’ displays the indie-rock quartet’s talent for looking on the bright side of life.

Speaking of the single, Cadet Carter tells us: “The world is full of pessimists, especially since the start of the pandemic. And I’ll admit, I‘m a pessimist myself pretty much most of the time. But right now, nobody seems to keep the light on at the end of the tunnel, no one seems to be willing to fly the flag of optimism. So we decided to write a song about not losing hope and staying positive, just for a change. That is how ‘The Best Part’ came about.”

A step away from songs such as ‘King Of Pain’ and ‘A Bad Few Weeks’, we’re pretty happy with the positive direction the band is going in and we believe the rest of the world will be too? Tell your local radio stations about them today to make sure everyone gets a bit of sunshine in their life.

Indie electronic musician Mary Mi releases EP, Carnival Sounds

Mary Mi is a swedish artist, songwriter and producer that grew up in Vänersborg, but is now based in Örebro, Sweden. Her playful tunes are influenced by indie/folkmusic, which makes an interesting mix when the melodies meet her melancholic lyrics.

In 2019 Mary Mi released her debut EP called ”019-18” with lyrics based on colorful heartbreaks and moral dilemmas. Later the same year she released the single ‘‘rumbling applause”, inviting a messy, electronic sound to the folk melodies.
