Sparkling synths and cascading electro-pop elements shine in PRXZM’s latest release ‘SlowMotion’. Comprised of NickOrtega and EmmaMaidenberg, who met during college in Indiana, the duo previously reached the Top Five songs on the US Viral 50 Spotify Chart with their original song, ‘Haze’. We think ‘Slow Motion’ is going to make equally big waves. Curios to know what we’re talking about? Check it out below.
Speaking of ‘Slow Motion‘, PRXZM tell us: “There is no question that this summer is one for the outdoors. “Slow Motion” is an ode to the Northern California beaches where it was written. The production is heavily influenced by the warm tones of cassette tapes and the iconic, synthesized drums from the 80s.”
susan is an experimental electro pop artist , led by the unique musings of singer/ songwriter/producer Susan Reby. susan explores the overpowering feelings of growing up different, documenting their utopian getaway. The melancholic lyrical woes are transformed into an archive of hope and surreal daydreaming. Sinister electronica loops and guitar riffs encapsulating poetic singing, kaleidoscopic dissonant noises and abstract vocal melodies.
Taking influence from artists like: Pulp, FKA Twigs and Lorde, susan hopes to create a sound that is undeniably dark pop, with a hard hitting message. After their debut tour in 2018, playing latitude festival and their “tour vlog” reaching 300,000 views. susan continued to release music into 2019.
In 2019, susan was on the road again, touring around the UK. Previewing their new material whilst also performing some sounds from their first EP acne. Following this, in March, susan played their sold out headline show at ‘504 Arch – Brixton’. Selling out of merchandise and debuting new content. Last summer, susan appeared at Brighton and Nottingham Pride, and also debuted an atmospheric set at 2000Trees festival. Susan’s next project, a self produced mixtape titled Spit on it, was released in October 2019. Susan continued the message of expression and self identification and writes about the struggles of finding oneself whilst feeling content in a world that is truly uncomfortable. Combining their natural electronic background with indie singer/ songwriter/producer, ‘James Casperr’ susan aimed for a more emotional commercial sound. The single to the mixtape titled ‘Immune’, mastered by Rob Baldock (LittleMix, OneDirection), was released with a visual. This project being focused around the meaning of the track: Looking into the feelings of bitterness after a first encounter with somebody. works with dark lighting and visual effects that aims to encapsulate the audience and push the meaning behind the lyrics. susan was also cast as a main character in Johnny Marr’s video for ‘Armatopia’, which was premiered on Noisey. and recently walked the runway for the second time at ‘London Men’s Fashion Week’, where they walked for ‘Art School’, which was covered by Vogue, Wonderland, Dazed and The Face. To finish the year with a high, susan debuted two shows in London and Nottingham throughout December to thank people who have followed them throughout 2019.
Heading into 2020, susan will be releasing a further mixtape titled “Suepreme” which will be released monthly throughout the year. Each will be supported by a visual created by an array of different visual artists and videographers. The aim for this project is to move much more commercially and continue releasing content to their audience.
LA-based production duo RKCB, comprised of Riley Knapp and Casey Barth, whose alchemic sound fuses neo-soul, modern electronic R&B and dreamy synth-pop with avant-garde lyrics, resulting in an unparalleled sound. Accomplished producers and songwriters in their own right, having worked w/ Tinashe, Julia Michaels, Kacy Hill & more (along eclipsing 100 million Spotify streams to their name alone), RKCB is poised to have a break-out year all their own in 2019.
Their new single “Know Love” came out last week via AllPoints (Believe’s in-house label), which is the final new music the duo’s releasing this side of the year (stay tuned for some big news early next year!).
After spending the majority of 2018 in seclusion in the studio, RKCB returned to the spotlight in October with the release of “Alone With You Pt. 2” and its gorgeous music video, the acclaimed follow-up to their 2017 single “Alone, With You”. “Know Love” draws upon the moody aesthetic set forth on “Alone With You Pt. 2” and adds in the duo’s modern production techniques to include warm synth lines and heart-pounding percussion that wash over the listener, while RKCB’s impassioned vocals elevate the track to exorbitant levels.
