HOL (aka Hollie Findlay) is a singer, songwriter and producer. Born in Athens Greece in 2003, she grew up on the island of Kefalonia, Greece but split her early teens between UK and Greece. She has been singing since as early as she can remember and started performing at the young age of 14. She released her first EP in December 2018 and has since released a number of singles throughout 2019.
She has had support from BBC Introducing Lancashire, Sean McGinty and Radio X, John Kennedy and has on a number of occasion made the Fresh Faves of BBC 6 Musics Tom Robinson.
The journey of a young teen searching for themselves as they navigate the stresses and strains of life in the here and now. Growing through experiences in each chapter, they spread their wings and enter the adult world! Hol created this compilation of songs in the style of chapters almost like a book of life’s journey as a young person.
Channeling an ever-growing electronic pop sensibility in her music, ‘Change’ features vocals from British singer songwriter Gabrielle Aplin—whom TSHA met at a Spotify writing camp last year–over hazy drums and acid-flecked synth-lines. “She has a beautiful voice and is such a great writer” says TSHA, “we had such a good time working together”.
Tipped as “one to watch” by NME,Mixmag, Billboard, DJ Mag and BBC R1’s Pete Tong, TSHA is a London based producer who is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting young artists around. Her forthcoming EP “Flowers”, without doubt her most ambitious and accomplished body of work so far.
Previous single ‘Sister’—written during lockdown after TSHA found out she had an older half sister—is a vibrant piece of music packed with melody and emotion, and received support from the likes of Mixmag, NME, Resident Advisor, London in Stereo, DJ Mag, XLR8R, Dancing Astronaut and more. Elsewhere on the release, TSHA demonstrates the impressive depth and range across the EP with ‘Renegade’ and ‘Demba’. The latter, a collaboration with Malian griot music group Trio Da Kali, is another dancefloor sureshot recently previewed by Bonobo on his OUTLIER radio show on NTS.
“Flowers” EP is TSHA’s first original music since 2019’s “Moonlight” EP which earned her praise from peers (Maribou State, George FitzGerald and Bonobo); radio support from Jamz Supernova (BBC 1Xtra), BBC R1’s Pete Tong and Danny Howard, Triple J, KEXP; and critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard, FADER, NME, Mixmag, FACT, DJ Mag and many more. Towards the end of 2019 TSHA played at the iconic Printworks in London alongside Hunee & Antal (Rush Hour) and Motor City Drum Ensemble, having previously played multiple sets across The Warehouse Project’s 2019 season including showcases by Mura Masa and Annie Mac. TSHA has also been commissioned to remix the likes of Foals, Throwing Snow,Qrion (Anjunadeep), Prospa and most recently, Lianne La Havas.
“I stay up like we used to watching old videos of every night that meant somethingbefore all the clubs were closed” – Søren Holm, Liss
4-piece Danish band Liss are back with a propelling and visceral anthem for all the empty clubs around the world. Between the pulsating beat, heavy bass, enveloping synths, and the familiarity of Søren Holms vocals, ‘Leave Me On The Floor’ is a new turn for the band, while still encompassing all the qualities we love about Liss.
“I miss dancing with people, the contact and communication that arises, the constant back and forth. And I was thinking about how you can have your first meeting on a dancefloor but also your last goodbye. That’s the kind of dialogue we’re trying to put into our songs.” – Søren Holm, lead singer, Liss
Jamie Clarke, AKA Sfven, is a 22 year old music producer from Derby who has already been receiving notable support early on in his career. His lo-fi debut EP ‘Like I Love U,’ which was released earlier this year, quickly caught the attention of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac and the station’s new music champion Jack Saunders. He has also received support from the likes of BBC Introducing, MTV, DIY Magazine, Clash, Dork, Notion and The Independent.
The second EP from Sfven, ‘The Honey EP’ is the producer’s most cohesive statement yet. Sonically, it draws heavily on the very same classic songwriters that Sfven remembers from his childhood, clashing timeless melody progressions and emotion-packed lyrics with breezy, forward thinking production.
“I just wanted to make something that you can boogie to, but also focus on lyrically.” says Sfven. “I think my favourite part has just been experimenting with new sounds, figuring out a direction and whether it sticks. This EP turned out feeling a lot more cohesive than the last one, even though I went a bit out of my comfort zone. Hopefully that comes through.”
Sfven’s recent single ‘Changing,’ which features on The Honey EP, received solid playlist support across DSPS including Spotify ‘NMF UK,’ ‘Peach,’ Apple Music ‘New Music Daily [x20 countries],’ Deezer ‘Brand New UK’ and Amazon ‘Brand New Music and ‘Breakthrough UK.’ The official music video was also added to MTV’s Rocks Chart playlist.
Honey EP also includes previously released single ‘Saint’ as well as the upcoming focus track ‘Honey.’ Standing firm and holding on to who you really are is a recurring theme on ‘Honey.’ The official music video, which is set in Norfolk, follows a unique and romantic storyline of two sock puppets who fall in love at first sight and get married.
Also featured on the EP is the track ‘Funeral’ which became a metaphor for losing a part of your identity. “It became about having a funeral for a part of yourself” Sfven explains, “and having a partner that makes you change – and almost kill a part of yourself – to fit their mould and expectations”
Hotly tipped by the likes of Dork and MTV, backed by Annie Mac and Jack Saunders, and currently hard at work on his debut album set for release next year, Sfven is a one-of-a-kind artist set to make some massive waves in the forthcoming future.
