R3HAB remixes Acid Arab’s ‘Habaytak’, listen now

Multi-platinum producer, and DJ, R3HAB has just unleashed a new remix of Acid Arab’s infectiously boundary-breaking track, ‘Habaytak’. Better known by his moniker, the producer, Fadil El Ghoul, has remixed the likes of Rihanna, Drake, Taylor Swift, and Calvin Harris, and put out original tracks with huge collabs. He has dominated the mainstream whilst staying true to his Dutch-Moroccan heritage. Out now via [PIAS] Électronique, R3HAB gave the Eastern-inspired sound of the original track, featuring Ghizlane Melih’s vocals, a darker, faster-paced twist. Watch the freshly released Jean-Charles Charavin-directed video:

Trailblazing through the original with his vision but never forgetting to intensify Acid Arab’s existing builds and breaks, R3HAB heightens the vocal track to spine-tingling levels. Incorporating explicit House elements and throbbing electronic bass, this club banger exaggerates the source material’s production whilst keeping Ghizlane Melih’s gorgeous vocals in the spotlight. In doing so, he not only injects the beats with his unique brand of thumping House, but he also pays homage to the Morrocan diva’s heritage and influences. Listen to both the original and the new remix below:

About their exciting collaboration, the two producers had this to say, R3HAB: “I’ve been a fan of Acid Arab’s work for a long time now, so I was excited when they reached out. I had a lot of fun remixing ‘Habaytak’, it’s always a good challenge to infuse my sound into different genres and musical cultures. I loved the experience and we’re excited to finally share it with the world!”. Acid Arab: “This mix of R3HAB’s more mainstream sound with our Arabic-inspired electronic music has spawned a unique and potentially massive track. We’re honoured that R3HAB agreed to add his special touch and individual vibe to our track. We’re proud to see more musical boundaries fall.”

May 21, 2021 DJ Wax Tailor keeps it moving and grooving in hip hop remix

DJ Wax Tailor keeps it moving and grooving in hip hop remix

Back in 2019, the world of trip-hop began to stir as Wax Tailor released the disturbingly captivating single, The Light and murmurs of more releases began to arise. Early 2020 the producer released the unmistakable single, Keep It Movin featuring D Smoke, the winner of Netflix’sRhythm + Flow” competition. The release of ‘Keep It Movin’ came at a dark time, as the pandemic set in and the world was confronted with the truth of police brutality in a harsh yet undeniable way. However, the upbeat, anthemic nature of the song managed to set a tone of hope and acknowledgement that we are in control of our own destiny while the accompanying funky music video provided some much-needed relief.

The releases for Wax Tailor continued as he built towards his album, Shadow Of Our Suns which was released at the start of this year. The album showcased the vocals of numerous talented artists including Mark Lanegan in the rock-infused ‘Just A Candle’, Rosemary Standley the melancholic ‘Misery’ and Adeline in the mind-bending ‘Deja Vu’. You can read our full feature on the album here. The producer took time to introduce each of the artists on his socials and highlighting the reasons he chose to work with them.

Stream/ download: ‘Keep Movin ft. D Smoke (WT Remix)’

This year, Wax Tailor continues to provide the world with new music, returning to and reworking his own sound into something new. The first of these remixes was our favourite – as he took on ‘Keep It Movin’ and reworked it, keeping a focus on the talented D Smoke’s vocals while infusing it with a bit more of Wax Tailor’s signature sound. Next, came the remixes for Everybody, originally featuring Del The Funky Homosapien and eventually receiving a remix from South African artist Kanif The Jhatmaster as well as Wax Tailor himself.

September 2, 2020 Singer Beth Hirsch shares official remix for hit ‘All I Need’

Singer Beth Hirsch shares official remix for hit ‘All I Need’

The new single follows up on the recently released albums opening track <<‘Allison Something>> and is one of the two tracks she featured on from Air’s multi-platinum album Moon Safari. The story goes that Beth and Air members Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel all lived in Montmartre; Nicolas was my neighbour, but I didn’t know him, says Beth. Hirsch was working on her own EP with Nouvelle Vague’s Marc Collin at the studio of Étienne Wersinger, cult French producer known for his work with Air, Nouvelle Vague and Camille. One morning Godin was there sitting on the couch I asked him if he was in music and he replied, ‘Yes, I am. Actually, my partner and I are putting out a record, and we’d like you to be on it, she recalls.

They showed me a couple of tracks and I happened to really like them. You could just tell their sense of melody was so strong. I felt very drawn to it. Hirsch went on to write the lyrics and melody of All I Need. At the request of the band, she also composed another track for the album, You Make It Easy. Moon Safari went on to sell an estimated two million copies around the world, and ‘All I Need‘ became its third single, after ‘Sexy Boy’ and ‘Kelly Watch The Stars.’

People have offered or suggested to me over the years to remix it, and I’ve never really jumped on board, she says while working in the studio with ELIOT two years ago in Greece, he mentioned he’d really like to remix ‘All I Need’ and showed me the sketch. I thought ‘This is so cool, let’s just do this.’”

Beth Hirsch rose to fame as a consequence of her collaborations with French duo Air on that critically acclaimed debut album Moon Safari, as well as making a significant contribution to the album as lead vocalist/co-writer on two of the record’s key moments, the hit single All I Need and You Make It Easy, she also performed live around the world as part of Airs live touring band.

Her sultry and haunting vocals were also key on a duet with Senegalese singer Wasis Diop. Everything was included in the soundtrack for the acclaimed remake of the classic movie, The Thomas Crowne Affair. Signed to !K7 Records Hirsch released her debut solo album, the acoustic Early Days in 2000, followed by the Pitchfork-approved electronic Titles & Idols’ in 2001. After a series of collaborations with artists including Pale 3, Jakatta and D*Note, Hirsch released her third solo album Wholehearted in 2007.

With ‘All I Need (ELIOT’s Cosmic Remix)’Beth Hirsch proves her vocals are an essential part of what made the song a timeless piece of music.
