Walker’s Cay releases new song ‘Tell Me’

Carrying the torch from where melodic rock bands like Journey, Def Leppard, Styx and Heart left off, Toronto’s Walker’s Cay ushers those classic influences into the 21st Century with two new tracks. On April 10th, 2020, the four-man band featuring Gold and Platinum-status lead vocalist Gary LaBarr, guitarist Mike Swain, bassist Tim Morrissey, and drummer Dave Pistilli will release “Tell Me” and “Why Oh Why” (MTS Records.)

“These guys are right in my wheelhouse,” said Michael Stover of MTS. “Those classic tunes with the big vocals, powerful drums, screaming guitars…that’s what I grew up with. So, to be working with a talented band like Walker’s Cay makes total sense for us. They are taking the best parts of the past and bringing them forward in their own style. 2020 is going to be huge for Walker’s Cay!”

Walker’s Cay gets its name from an “out island” in the Bahamas. It was visited by Gary LaBarr, (a private pilot), and some friends back in the late 1990’s. Not only did this beautiful island stand out in Gary’s mind throughout his life, but the name of “Walker’s Cay” did as well. Gary LaBarr has gold and platinum record status for his work in various original band projects, working as a musician, producer, and arranger. Mike Swain is considered to be the “technical wizard” for the band, due to his 30-plus years as a licensed control technician at a nuclear power plant. Mike is also a professional recording engineer, specializing in the Pro-Tools recording platform. Tim Morrissey comes to Walker’s Cay with quite the resume as a professional bass player and recording artist. He is a “gear geek” in regards to his intense interest in achieving that “perfect” bass sound. With a rock/jazz style type of percussive education, David “Dave” Pistilli lays down the tasty “back-beat” that Walker’s Cay is known for.

Producer Kayobe radiates with new album, Islands To Bridges

Inspired by a varied bunch of artists including Daphni, Thom Yorke, DJ Shadow, Frank Ocean, Caribou, Bon Iver, Thundercat, Foals, FKA Twigs, Björk, Portishead, James Blake, and Nick Hakim. It is no wonder that Kayobe’s sound is highly individualistic. His latest album showcases his uniquely adaptable flow and arrangement of sounds.

The site A.Room talks about Kayobe’s new album, “ Kayobe is a self-taught sound engineer, teaching himself the tricks of the trade and creating his unique sound in the process. The entire album carries chillwave and deep house characteristics, however, each song differs in mood, texture, and energy. The album overall presents an ambient flow that is easy on the ear and mind.” Sub Scape share their thoughts as well, “Featuring elements of chill wave and deep house within each track, he manages to create a unique world in each of his songs with his elixir of electronic and mystical and ambient textures.

Kayobe adds, “ “Islands to Bridges was written and recorded on three different continents and was inspired by the sights and sounds around me. There were phases during the creation of this album when I was feeling more solitary (islands), and phases when I was feeling compelled to connect more deeply with others (bridges). There are more energetic party tracks, and more subdued chillout tracks – I hope they take you on a journey from wherever you are to wherever you want to be.”

Phuture Life previously commented on the track: “Trrmà’s previous single ‘Shishanpangma’ has a completely different feel to the new single ‘Dhaulagiri’, which takes a polyrhythmic turn, as well as adding a far-out and sporadic beat.” Sound Lab  adds, “‘Dhaulagiri’ pleasantly surprises Trrmà fans, it starts with presenting a facade of a progressing beat, that is abruptly deconstructed by electronic textures, the listener is teased with moments of a melodic beat throughout the track.”

Pre-order The Earth’s Relief

Trrmà take the time to describe the track to their fans, “‘Dhaulagiri’ combines afro-jazz percussion elements with abstract electronics that remind spacey 90’ scratch DJ works. An unconventional  form of broken beat composition.”

Melodic Techno and Tech House producer NHOAH has officially premiered his latest live set atop the twelfth floor of a wall-less skyscraper in Vienna, via BE-AT TV. The entire set-up took three months of planning, however, the morning of the show disaster struck, as the weather forecast included gale-force winds and a storm! The show still went on despite the weather conditions, and NHOAH made the best out of the storm and flowed with it. He played six unreleased tracks off of his upcoming album.

NHOAH’s skill set covers producing, composing, DJ’ing and mixing engineering. His previous performance featured  NHOAH performing on a glass stairway on Dachstein Glacier called ‘Stairway To Nothingness – Glacier Concert’, which also premiered via BE-AT TV.  The current view rate of that video is over 130K Youtube views to date. NHOAH has worked with esteemed producers for The Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, and Bronski Beat’s Larry Steinbachek. His album Tangowerk recieved an award and acclaim at the German Record Critics’ Awards. Originally from Berlin, NHOAH pays homage to early German synth-music including the work of  Klaus Schulze and D.A.F.

NHOAH shares his view on performing in a storm, “It was a fantastic experience, a magical moment of one and a half hours. A fire of music in the storm. A euphoria that we could share with nature in an underground party, or better said “overground party”, in an incomparable way. Sometimes the wind lifted us off our feet. It was never easier to dance than on this day. Thank you, storm. You first scared me but then gave me the greatest joy.”
