March 9, 2021 Band Giant Sky’s song ‘Snow’ is a comforting alternative release

Band Giant Sky’s song ‘Snow’ is a comforting alternative release

It is that time of the day when you start to feel drained and are just looking for the perfect indie-rock anthem to unwind with as you lick your wounds – enter band Giant SkyGiant Sky’s latest single ‘Snow’ via Bloody Sunset Records is sure to be a godsend for sure. This London-based band wrote this song about isolation and the effect that it can have on one’s relationships and mental health.

Stream / Download ‘Snow’

Lyrics like “The world goes crazy, but you and I remain the same/ There’s no way that I can go into the void of my own” spreads a message of light & connection in times of darkness. One can easily fold and let physical isolation rob you of your sanity and happiness. Giant Sky’s ‘Snow’ reminds one that no true connection is ever lost if it is real.

In these challenging & limiting times, the band needs to connect to their fans in other ways. They have urged fans to support their Kickstarter campaign on socials, which includes exclusive band merch: “f you were considering getting our EP or album on release, here’s a better way to do it – supporting the campaign gets you limited edition versions, t-shirts, mentions in vinyl sleeves… check it out! We know it’s a weird time, but if you want to support new music this is a great way to do it.

March 9, 2021 Retro pop band Barley Passable releases Hindsight EP

Retro pop band Barley Passable releases Hindsight EP

The ‘Hindsight’ EP finds a band casting one eye back to the funk-fuelled melodies and discofied rhythms of yesteryear, with its other fixed on a fresh, finessed and floor-filling vision for the post-Pandemic generation.

Take their previous track Silver, with all its clipped French-touch grooves, elastic disco basslines and glittering retro synthesizers. Intended as a beacon of hope and a paean to eternal youth; it’s a mirror-ball speckled marvel, destined to shine in the darkest of dance-halls as the new era of nightlife and all its endless possibilities beckon.

A fitting entry to their new ‘Hindsight’ EP, Barley Passable say of “Silver”

Keeping with the theme of our first EP ‘Hindsight’, “Silver” is written in the context of us looking back on feeling self love and confidence, both things we wish came around more often and stay longer in our lives. With us both fresh out of school and in the books studying at the time; writing, releasing and playing music helped us escape and feel unbreakable. It was like when we were away from our studies we were finally able to shine like silver and do what we were meant to do. We wanted to capture and tell the world of this feeling of invincibility and coolness that can go unseen when things just feel right. When we feel “Silver”, we stay young and people sure know it.”

Released this Spring, the ‘Hindsight’ EP follows a succession of deeply irresistible releases from the aspiring Aussie duo. Making waves with early singles “All I Haveand “Whether or Not” in 2020, the band continued their winning streak with “Step Inside” and recent single “Turnaround”; both of which appear on the EP. ‘Hindsight’ also features two brand new bonus tracks, the sensual slow-dance of “Forget” and the cinematic closer “For Now”.

Reflecting on the new EP, the duo of Kai Ollmann (guitars, vox) and Davy Brown (keyboards, vox) say:

Hindsight is all too human. Often painfully, hindsight pulls the past into the now and helps one to see that looking back on even the most negative of situations can push growth and momentum. This EP is our way of returning to various scenes over the last few years, from the first time we met, and speaking to these situations, as they still run on repeat in our minds. It is a constant reminder telling us to remember exactly who we are, to trust our heads and to be passionate and happy. Most importantly we hope it does the same for all who listen.”

Written, recorded and produced by Barley Passable at their studio in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, additional contributions come from Callum Hulme (drums), James Christowski (production) and Zino Mikorey (mastering).

Making waves with each new release they put their name to, the ‘Hindsight’ EP consolidates Barley Passable’s retro-futuristic pop in one place and confirms them as one of 2021’s brightest emerging talents.

March 9, 2021 Alternative pop singer Chris Sunfield shares the evocative song, ‘Predator’

Alternative pop singer Chris Sunfield shares the evocative song, ‘Predator’

Chris Sunfield’s second single “Predator” is an abrupt about-face following his sunshine pop debut “The Little Things”. Predator is a provocative poison pen letter to romantic predators, exposing their psychopathic and Machiavellian ways. The lyrics, with their reptilian metaphors, serve to validate anyone who’s been harmed by toxic narcissists, and to warn others about their predatorial charms. Musically, the song is a multi-layered wall of retro sounds with progressive house stylings and a vintage, analog, R&B vibe. Sunfield sings, and plays all guitars, bass, and keyboards. Producer Michael Hanson (Glass Tiger) plays drums while fellow Radar Love Records artist Vicky Rai handles backing vocals. The crowning moment is an acid-tinged rap by Dynamic (a.k.a. Ya Favourite Lightskin) that dials up the tension before ushering in a climax of musical dialogue among the various predator and prey players.

March 9, 2021 Music producer Clarian marks first ever NFT music auction for synth-pop album

Music producer Clarian marks first ever NFT music auction for synth-pop album

Enter the Whale Shark NFT Auction

Visionary artist Clarian announced the first NFT Music Album Auction ever, ahead of Kings of Leon, via The Golden Spoon on peer-to-peer marketplace OpenSea, March 4th, 2021. Issuing a challenge to the control that streaming giants such as Spotify have established, Clarian is betting he will sell his aptly titled new album Whale Shark for nothing less than 100 thousand dollars in Ethereum. On the album, listeners will find the noteworthy single ‘Strange Vibrations’. Up for auction is the one and only authentic copy of the album with the publishing rights included as an NFT. The auction ends March 20, 2021, at 4 AM GMT with the Electronic Music Community and Culture (EMC^2) room, on the Clubhouse messaging app, hosting the final album auction countdown.

The exchange of this artifact sends a powerful message and empowers a music industry in need of technological liberation. This is the first of its kind as a purchase of a music content on Blockchain, adding a deeper value of significance and responsibility to the bearer. In purchasing the release you will own the publishing rights to the album.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are a new type of digital asset. Recorded on a secure digital ledger known as “Blockchain” each NFT represents a unique collector’s item that can’t be duplicated and, therefore, extremely rare. Decentralized Blockchain and NFT technology will lead the way to a much needed music and art revolution and it’s already starting to happen. Clarian believes that the sale of this NFT can empower an entire generation by restoring life and freedom back to the music industry.

Over the years, Clarian has been featured and acclaimed in places such as Rolling Stone, Sonar Festival, The Guardian, CLASH Magazine, BBC Radio, for his unique electronic surrealism, and has worked in the shadows as an engineer and songwriter for underground heroes and Grammy nominated artists alike.

Whale Shark is a collection of dark, woozy, synth-pop tracks underpinned by solid songwriting. Each track offers a unique adventure into the cool, subaquatic world of Whale Shark accompanied by surreal vocals that bubble to the surface of the enchanting experimental production.

Within Clarian’s lyrics for ‘Strange Vibrations’, we can find some unique insight to his mind: “I’m picking up strange vibrations ; She’s going through transformations ; I’m picking up strange vibrations ; In the forest light, change awaits ; I’m going through transformations ; In the forest light, change awaits”.
