Music producer KESH shares euphoric electronica single

London multi-hyphenate KESH releases third sonic installment “Mind Maze”.

“Mind Maze is a song about getting in your own way. Knowing you have so much to give. So much to live for and contribute to things bigger than yourself. Yet being consistently drained by emotions and trapped in the narratives of past traumas. Stuck in the never-ending cycles of negative thought patterns. Sinking deeper and deeper. Lost within the mind maze.” KESH says.

The third instalment to complete the body of work entitled ~ Throes, was made with the intention to be listened to loud – the outcome, an otherworldly immersive experience.  The complex soundscapes of “Mind Maze” encapsulates KESH’s pain and hope beautifully, slowly building towards a climactic end of electronic euphoria. The heavy hitting expression invites the listener to release. Take “Jadine’s Escape” for example, with it’s opening made up of towering sounds of static and distorted vocals, the reverberating beat is intense and uniquely meditative at the same time. The brutalist architecture of this song is then shattered with ethereal and melodic tones and sees KESH take flight with her soaring, softly sung words. “not gaan out” is comprised of dynamic, industrial sounds that transcend the listener to the darkest depths of the club. It is unconventional, adding a complexity that’s riveting and radical and the sonics are juxtaposed by airy, feather light vocals which explore internal conflicts. It recalls the unorthodox sound design of Richard D. James as much as the raw lyricism of Björk.

An acclaimed visual artist, designer and DJ, KESH’s music is the next chapter in a creative career that has always pushed boundaries. Driving every aspect of the songwriting, she writes, directs and co-produces all of her music from concept to master. Her music has been championed by the likes of Channel 4 News, Dazed, Clash, The Face, Purple, Flaunt and more, firmly placing her at the forefront of experimental music making.

This year, KESH’s originality was celebrated in 8 commissioned self portraits that she produced for the Moschino Picasso collection. She photographed and creative directed 8 images starring herself for the brand which were released via their socials and website. Her work was displayed in the critically acclaimed Christie’s exhibition ‘Say It Loud’ and her debut NFT was successfully sold at Auction with Christies New York in June of this year. Channel 4 News interviewed KESH earlier the year as one of the most relevant digital artists of today and played Jadines Escape to accompany the interview piece. This was broadcasted on National television.  Kim Kardashian’s underwear brand SKIMS commissioned KESH to apply one of her continuing artwork concepts to a ten image campaign which was photographed, creative directed and cast by KESH which was released in October 2020 before she dropped her own limited edition “Jadine’s Escape” T-Shirt modelled by actor and long-time collector of her work, Samuel L Jackson.

Electronic music producer TSHA announces upcoming album

Hotly tipped by everyone from Annie Mac, Bonobo and Gorillaz to Billboard, NME, Crack, Mixmag and DJ Mag, TSHA is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting talents coming out of the UK. Forthcoming EP “OnlyL” due for release on 27th August showcases a confident creative who is constantly developing and refining her own distinct feel and sound.

The release arrives off the back of a stellar run for the young artist including the launch of her new bi-monthly ‘Jackfruit Radio’ show on Apple Music—which debuted with a guest spot from femme culture founder Elkka—releasing her first BBC Essential Mix and a Minimix for Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, and being named BBC Radio 1’s “Future Artist” for January 2021 and “Star of 2020” by BBC Introducing. Her most recent EP, 2020’s “Flowers”, made multiple End-Of-Year listings, and was met with widespread praise from the likes of Billboard, NME—who described the EP as “emotion-filled electronic anthems from a star in the making”—NPR, Resident Advisor, Mixmag, NYLON, DJ Mag, Dancing Astronaut and many more. She has also been tipped for greatness by essentially the whole of BBC Radio 1 specialist DJ crew including Annie Mac, Jack Saunders, Jaguar, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Ricky, Melvin & Charlie and Flava D.

On EP title track and lead single ‘OnlyL’, TSHA’s innate gift for producing genre-defying, classy electronic pop is at the fore. An instant earworm, it features vocals from NIMMO aka Sarah Nimmo and Reva Gauntlett, with TSHA juxtaposing the dark lyrics against the track’s upbeat instrumental.

Power’ plays to another of TSHA’s loves: club music. With her DJ career flourishing, the global pandemic shut down the nighttime industries and all access to dancefloors and the shared experience and exhilaration of clubbing. ‘Power’ encapsulates all of that pent up energy and love and is aimed squarely at the dancefloor–an absolutely storming four-to-the-floor groove.

‘I Know’ shows off yet another facet of TSHA’s extraordinary production chops. A perfect marriage of live musicianship and electronics, it’s a beautifully textured and melancholy work built around a gorgeous hang drum motif.

Gearing up for a busy summer schedule at UK festivals including Access, Bigfoot, Standon Calling, Gala, Boardmasters, Lost Village, ION, Hideout, Inner State and Detonate, TSHA will also be appearing at Field Day in August 2021, sharing the bill with the likes of Bicep, Floating Points, Jayda G and Mount Kimbie.

Artwork for “OnlyL” is by illustrator Felicity Marshall. Limited edition 12” released 27th August 2021.

May 21, 2021 DJ Wax Tailor keeps it moving and grooving in hip hop remix

DJ Wax Tailor keeps it moving and grooving in hip hop remix

Back in 2019, the world of trip-hop began to stir as Wax Tailor released the disturbingly captivating single, The Light and murmurs of more releases began to arise. Early 2020 the producer released the unmistakable single, Keep It Movin featuring D Smoke, the winner of Netflix’sRhythm + Flow” competition. The release of ‘Keep It Movin’ came at a dark time, as the pandemic set in and the world was confronted with the truth of police brutality in a harsh yet undeniable way. However, the upbeat, anthemic nature of the song managed to set a tone of hope and acknowledgement that we are in control of our own destiny while the accompanying funky music video provided some much-needed relief.

The releases for Wax Tailor continued as he built towards his album, Shadow Of Our Suns which was released at the start of this year. The album showcased the vocals of numerous talented artists including Mark Lanegan in the rock-infused ‘Just A Candle’, Rosemary Standley the melancholic ‘Misery’ and Adeline in the mind-bending ‘Deja Vu’. You can read our full feature on the album here. The producer took time to introduce each of the artists on his socials and highlighting the reasons he chose to work with them.

Stream/ download: ‘Keep Movin ft. D Smoke (WT Remix)’

This year, Wax Tailor continues to provide the world with new music, returning to and reworking his own sound into something new. The first of these remixes was our favourite – as he took on ‘Keep It Movin’ and reworked it, keeping a focus on the talented D Smoke’s vocals while infusing it with a bit more of Wax Tailor’s signature sound. Next, came the remixes for Everybody, originally featuring Del The Funky Homosapien and eventually receiving a remix from South African artist Kanif The Jhatmaster as well as Wax Tailor himself.
