Music producer Holo has delighted the avid electronica listener once again with his charismatic and laidback energy on his latest song offering ‘In Limbo’. A true connoisseur of electronics, the music producer crafts his sound around his feelings rather than feeling tied down to one key sound. To many people’s surprise, the producer has also admitted he is not strictly inspired by traditionally electronic musicians, citing names like alternative band Radiohead and The Beatles as some of his key inspirations. If you want to hear more from this fresh talent, stay tuned as he plans to release an EP also titled In Limbo next month via Houseum.

In an interview with Chill Music, the producer shared: “I think the common thread within my music is an emphasis on texture, melody, and harmony primarily. I really care about which sounds I pick, as I want to create a distinct atmosphere for the track to live in… almost like decorating a room. Other signatures I think of are simple drum parts, live guitar, bass playing, the use of unusual samples, and lots of reverb.”

Certainly a quirky and imaginative fellow as his response above suggests, Holo continues to impress us with every single release he shares with us. ‘In Limbo’ shares the producer’s versatility with panache and an “effortlessly” spaced out sound that blurs genre expectations and is an overall wholesomely mellow track for the stressed or elated to enjoy simultaneously.

Evocative songbird MARIA Die RUHE has shared her latest single ‘Skin’ which explores sexuality and body positivity. The songstress brings a fresh approach to her art, like a phoenix she has risen and conquers her fears and insecurities one song at a time. The track was released yesterday via Reduced To the Root, and is a divine ethereal body accepting anthem. Orchestral and electronic fusions collide with the mystically alluring vocals of the songstress.

Stream / Download: ‘Skin’

MARIA Die RUHE shares personal insight on how the track came to be: “I disliked my body for the longest period of my life for different reasons. I was always ashamed of getting undressed first in school sports, later with lovers. A lot of women share this phenomenon. This is insane. Today, I know that I am perfect as I am and beautiful. Do you like this vehicle you were born into? Your body? Your body is a magical machine with incredible functions and huge abilities to learn, develop, change. It is always there for you. You are your body and your body becomes the thoughts you are giving to it. With ‘SKIN’, I am rounding up my life and travelling the transformation of making peace with my body and loving and nurturing it as it is. My body. The only one I have in this life.”

‘Skin’ features on POP_GROUND.fm

We have all felt or feel insecure about something at a certain point in our life, MARIA Die RUHE embraces her insecurities and blooms through doing so. Regardless of where you are in your journey of self-acceptance, I think we can all take a petal from the singer’s insightful lyrical bouquet that gives one a touch of hope and liberation to look beyond the surface.

London-based producer and selector, DJ Chillz returns with ‘Keep Me Safe’, the second single to be released from her expertly crafted, ‘Adebowale EP’.

Leaning into a more Afro Electronic Chilled sound, ‘Keep Me Safe’ showcases Chillz’ more mellow side; drawing influences from her distinctly unique blend of house, RnB and Afrobeat; as well as her Nigerian heritage. Minimal yet addictive, ‘Keep Me Safe’ fuses sharp percussive beats and simple guitar chords with distorted vocal chops in her native tongue of Yoruba; a track to smoothly ease us into the winter months.

“I produced and wrote this track after a Kemetic Yoga session, almost as a form of self therapy. It brought me closer to my Nigerian heritage with the use of my mother tongue of Yoruba in the lyrics.” – DJ Chillz

The founder of Riddim Nights, Zanku Vibes London and the syndicated Eclectic Sounds Radio Show, DJ Chillz has been a force within the music industry for a while now. Known for her skills behind the decks, eclectic live sets and her effortless ability to combine the rhythm of Afrobeats with RnB and House, Chillz has stepped into the spotlight as a talented producer – her sounds regularly appearing across the airwaves of BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra and Reprezent to name a few.

After support from BBC 1Xtra’s Rampage Show, Ellie Prohan (KISS Fresh) and Bukky On The Radio (The Beat London), Chillz second single off her Adebowale EP, ‘Keep Me Safe’ marks an exciting new chapter as she steadily climbs up the ranks of rising female talent making their mark on the industry.

April 23, 2021 Electro-pop singer Hanne Mjøen breaks new ground with latest song

Electro-pop singer Hanne Mjøen breaks new ground with latest song

Breaking new ground from the mainstream qualities of her flirty pop princess appeal, singer Hanne Mjøen starts off on a different foot with latest single ‘Hell With You’ via Physical Presents. The singer spent the last few months evaluating her sound and  has gravitated towards ground-breaking musical influences like Robyn, Flume and Lorde.

Stream/Download ‘Hell With You’

The songstress recently shared her feelings about releasing this track, and how her sound has changed in the last few months on socials recently: “Hi friends I wrote Hell With You in March 2019 with one of my favorite co-writers Karl Zine – and it’s been in the back of my mind ever since then. This song is very special to me, cause at the time I wrote it I had lost the drive to do my own artist project, and it inspired me to focus on writing songs for me again. Produced by the best Sondre Mjåland

Still maintaining the electro pop quirks of her former self, ‘Hell With You’s  production style takes a more jagged approach and we are not complaining one bit. The single breaks from the naive pop sweetheart complex of Hanne’s previous hits, and instead brings forward a lady that is fully aware of the weight of her decisions that she makes. Not a cautious or lighthearted track, this track focuses on the societal pressure and somewhat unwritten standards of being a female even in a more diverse and politically correct society.
