November 2, 2021 Interview with honest alternative pop musician Rich Delinquent

Interview with honest alternative pop musician Rich Delinquent

Stepping into the L.A. music scene in 2019, Rich Delinquent has established himself as a refreshingly honest alternative pop act.  Rich Delinquent’s music draws influence from Flume, The Weeknd, and Blackbear who are all known to switch it up with finesse, whenever they deem fit. Set to release his album Sadboi on the 5th of November via 24-8 Records, the Australian music producer has shared some eclectic alternative pop gems with us these past few months. An advocate for mental health in the music scene, Rich Delinquent wants to create awareness of all the negative spirals one can find themselves in when chasing fame.

Rich Delinquent fill us in on his upcoming work and influences below.

What are some of your earliest memories of music?

I can still vividly remember the moment I saw a guitarist, Steve Morse from the band Deep Purple play live at my first concert as a child. That was the moment I knew I wanted to play guitar and be on stage performing.

Take us through your songwriting process. Are there any particular steps you take when putting music together?

I’ll always start with writing the instrumental bed followed by the chord progression, melodies, and drums. Once this is done I write the top line (sometimes collaborating with songwriters), then track the vocals, finish the producing and finally mix the song down.

Studio work and music creation or performing and interacting with a live audience, which do you prefer?

I honestly don’t have a preference, it all goes hand in hand and is all equally rewarding. For me, It’s like asking someone if they prefer to eat or drink.

What is the most memorable response you have had to your music?

One of the biggest drivers behind me making music is to connect with people through my songs. Receiving messages saying that one of my songs helped someone reconsider suicide, helped get through a breakup, or even just turned someones day around means the world to me.

These messages mean a lot more to me, the high streaming numbers or a shout-out from a peer.

If you could put together a radio show, what kind of music would you play?

I’ve put together a Spotify playlist called Delinquent Radio, so I guess it would be that. A wide range of music from EDM, hip-hop, and metal.

Name five artists and their albums who would appear on your radio show

The Weeknd, Bring Me The Horizon, Blackbear, Flume, and Whipped Cream.

What would you like to achieve with your music? What does success look like to you?

I have huge goals of headlining festivals and winning Grammy’s, but that doesn’t dictate success for me. A successful music career is one in which you can touch as many people as possible on an emotional level. That’s a real success.

One last thought to leave your fans with?

I am just really excited for this album to be out in the world. It’s been a long time coming; from writing the songs in lockdown in Melbourne, Australia to moving to LA to pursue music. It’s been a journey. This is my debut album and I’m really looking forward to sharing it with everyone.

Album track ‘She’s Happy?’ features on the Spotify playlist POP_GROUND.fm

October 28, 2021 Listen to Ubisoft’s Far Cry® 6 COMPLETE MUSIC (Original Game Soundtrack) by Pedro Bromfman

Listen to Ubisoft’s Far Cry® 6 COMPLETE MUSIC (Original Game Soundtrack) by Pedro Bromfman

The complete soundtrack for Ubisoft’s Far Cry® 6 has hit the airwaves and is sure to not only delight gamers but music fans too. Scored by award-winning composer and producer Pedro Bromfman, the soundtrack is an emotional journey that takes place alongside revolution and guerilla warfare.

The game centres around the fictional island of Yara, which must be liberated from villain Antón Castillo (Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito) and his son Diego. Players take up the persona of Dani Rojas, a local military dropout, who tries to escape the island but ends up joining the revolutionary group Libertad.

With a collective play count of nearly 20 million streams, Pedro Bromfman has a trail of awards in his wake and also recently scored the feature film The Blackout.

Speaking of the album Bromfman explains: “Composing the music for Far Cry® 6 has been a tremendously rewarding experience! We set out to create a very modern score, drenched in lush soundscapes, driving percussion, processed organic instruments and a ton of synthesizers.  We knew we needed to capture the soul of Yara, and its characters, by rooting the score on traditional Latin American and Caribbean music, while being completely free to experiment with contemporary sounds, elements and techniques, in hopes of creating something very fresh and unique.

Laidback R&B music producer Zanski shares album Phenomena

In his sophomore album Phenomena, Canadian musician Zanski submerges audiences into an immersive, emotional journey through his meticulously crafted sound.

Released  via AWAL, the 15-track LP is a lucid dream expressed through R&B-influenced guitars, stunning electronic production, and mesmerizing vocals from the multi-talented artist. Written, produced, mixed, and mastered by Zanski himself, Phenomena is an exploration of ambiguity, challenging the malaise of apathy with a longing for something more substantial. The album shares its name from Zanski’s YouTube series Phenomena TV, in which he explains his creative process and how he shapes his DIY sound design, nostalgic visual aesthetic, and inimitable musical style.

Zanski explains, “The album weaves together a dream-like narrative about existential motifs and what it is to feel disconnected. Through the 15 tracks, I wanted to write cataloguing a feeling, a loose collection of places and times, rather than a strict narrative, that still feels like it’s linearly progressing to some sort of emotional catharsis. It’s open-ended but touches upon the dissociation of modernity and how we navigate that feeling every day.”

First garnering attention in 2017, Toronto-based artist Zanski released his Collapse EP to critical and commercial acclaim. This led to a breakout single in 2018, “Fool,” which has accumulated over 5 million streams across streaming platforms. Looking forward, Zanski seeks to create music that transports listeners into lucid dreams. Building sonic worlds with his meticulous and encapsulating sound design, Zanski’s latest releases firmly root him as an artist to watch.

October 15, 2021 Breezy indie-pop act Halfnoise announce 4th studio album

Breezy indie-pop act Halfnoise announce 4th studio album

Halfnoise – the celebrated solo project of Zac Farro (Paramore)announces their 4th studio album Motif’, due November 5th, and shares new singleSuperstition’.

Continuing from the sonic style of first single ‘Two Of Us’ (praised by DIY, DORK, Rocksound, Brooklyn Vegan and more),  ‘Superstition’ is a swaggering, sexy confession of love punctuated with explosive bursts of vintage strings and funky rhythms that Farro’s smooth tenor vocals croon over the top of.

Motif, released via Zac’s own label Congrats Records is the soundtrack to a genuine, real life love affair. Inspired by his relationship with partner and collaborator Kayla Graninger, Motif charts the journey of new love…from infatuation to maturity, from New York to Los Angeles, from spontaneity to the everyday.

The story begins in medias res with the breezy, hand-holding, instrumental stroll fittingly titled, “Introduction.” From here, the record picks up with latest single, “Superstition,” setting the stage lyrically with the vulnerable, sincere adulations of a boy in love and way in over his head.

Motif’ unapologetically resides in the hi-fi mid-70s atmosphere of The Bee Gees, Gaye, Nilsson, Lennon and ELO, with swanky keys, nostalgic string arrangements, gushing sentiment and unrepentant saxophone — all without a hint of irony or parody.  Noticeably forefront are the melodies, which find Farro louder in the mix than usual, more exposed, and stretching his vocal and poetic range. Meanwhile Halfnoise moves into previously unexplored musical and emotional territory with both passionate and playful abandon.

The album closes strong with Last Day on Earth, a dreamy, Mind Games-esque anthem combining the whole cast of instrumental characters in a rapturous, romantic crescendo as the two lovers fantasize about their relationship in apocalyptic metaphor. The story’s final image is of the couple gracefully accepting a world that is unaware of its own impending demise and indifferent to the warnings of the new lovers, who alone, in the purification of love, can see the truth.

Halfnoise was founded by Farro in 2010, and has gone through many different musical iterations. Acclaimed 2016 album ‘Sudden Feeling’ drew from elements of shimmering synth-pop, which quickly developed into 2019s Natural Disguise’ which combined alternative rock, with disco elements, and which has led to the next chapter, beginning with ‘Two Of Us’ & ‘Supersition’.

Not one to rest on their laurels, since rejoining Paramore in 2017 Farro has released two EPs & one album under the Halfnoise moniker, as well as setting up his own label (Congrats) and producing the recent debut record from fellow Nashville artist and partner ELKE.

Motif’ is a bold new step for Farro & Halfnoise, exemplified by latest single ‘Superstition’.
